Reqiuem, Netflix’s new co-production with the BBC arrives on our screens this weekend, and judging by its new trailer, it’s set to be an atmospheric box set.
The series follows young cellist Matilda, played by Lydia Wilson (Star Trek Beyond, About Time), who has her life turned upside down by her mother’s inexplicable suicide. In the wake of the tragedy, Matilda begins to question everything she thought she knew about herself, embarking on a quest that leads her to a Welsh village. 23 years ago, a toddler disappeared there, never to be seen again. But what does this place haunted by its own past have to do with Matilda’s exploration of her own identity?
Matilda is joined on her journey to discover the truth by loyal best friend Hal (Joel Fry) and Nick (James Frecheville), another stranger in town who may not be all that he seems. The rest of the cast includes Clare Rushbrook (Rose), Tara Fitzgerald (Hilary), Richard Harrington (Aron), Joanna Scanlan (Janice), Brendan Coyle (Kendrick), Sian Reese Williams (Trudy), Dyfan Dwyfor (Ed) and Ifan Huw Thomas (Harry).
The programme is the latest co-production between the BBC and Netflix, following viking drama The Last Kingdom. It premieres on Friday 2nd February on BBC One at 9pm, with Netflix releasing the series in other countries.

Filming begins on BBC and Netflix thriller Requiem
24th March 2017
Filming has begun on Requiem, a new co-production between the BBC and Netflix.
The streaming giant is increasingly co-producing projects with broadcasters around the world, as it looks to build its catalogue of exclusive titles that it can distribute worldwide. UK broadcasters have been a key part of that strategy, from E4’s Game Face to ITV’s Paranoia. The BBC has also teamed up with Netflix on The Last Kingdom. Now, hot on the heels of that programme’s return for a second season, Netflix has also boarded psychological thriller Requiem.
Filming started this week in Newport on the six-part series, which is written by Kris Mrksa (The Slap, Underbelly) and directed by Mahalia Belo (Volume, Ellen).
