The third season of UnREAL arrives on Amazon Prime Video in the UK this February, and a new trailer gives us a glimpse of what’s in store for the dark satire.
Winning the Critics Choice Television Award for Most Exciting New Series in 2015, the series stars Shiri Appleby (Girls, Code Black) as flawed heroine, Rachel Goldberg, who works behind-the scenes on fictitious competition show Everlasting. Rachel is renowned for her skills in manipulating her relationships with, and among, the contestants to get the vital dramatic and outrageous footage that the programme’s dispassionate executive producer, Quinn King (Emmy-winner Constance Zimmer), demands. Appleby is also as a director and lead producer on the series.
In Season 3, Caitlin FitzGerald (Masters of Sex, Rectify) takes the reins as Everlasting’s female “suitress,” Serena. Determined to have her pick of eager male suitors, Serena faces off with Everlasting’s queen bees, producers Goldberg (Appleby) and King (Zimmer), who are shaking things up, all for the sake of ratings. The contestants will be tempted more than ever when they’re surrounded by hot new suitors, including Bart Edwards (Peep Show, Fantastic Beast), Alex Hernandez (Chicago Med), Adam Demos (Aboriginal Heart, Cooped Up) and Alex Sparrow (Russia’s Bachelor & Dancing with the Stars).
Fan favourites Craig Bierko (Everlasting’s creator, Chet), Josh Kelly (Jeremy, Everlasting’s DP and Rachel’s ex), Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman and Genevieve Buechner (Everlasting producers, Jay and Madison) are all set to return. Also joining the cast are Brandon Jay McLaren (Ransom), Kassandra Clementi (Hatfields and McCoy), Chelsea Hobbs (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce) and Jaime Callica (Wayward Pines).
The third season also has a welcome roster of female directors behind the camera, including the return of Appleby and co-creator Sarah Gertrude Shapiro alongside Constance Zimmer, making her directorial debut. Hanelle M. Culpepper (Empire, Quantico) and Sheree Folkson (Decoy Bride, Doctor Who) also join as directors. The series is executive produced by Shapiro and Stacy Rukeyser, who serves as showrunner.
Season 3 kicks off on 27th February, with new episodes then arriving weekly, within 24 hours of their US debut. Here’s a trailer:

Amazon has snapped up the exclusive UK TV rights to the series UnREAL, with episodes of Season 2 arriving every week, starting today.
Set in the cutthroat world of reality TV, UnREAL is a dramatic dark comedy that takes audiences behind the scenes of fictional dating TV show Everlasting.
Season 1 first premiered on Lifetime in the US last summer, but now, all 10 episodes of Season 1 are now available to watch in the UK on Amazon Prime Video. The first episode of Season 2 has also landed today, within 24 hours of its US premiere, with new episodes arriving in the UK every Tuesday on Amazon Prime Video.
The series stars Shiri Appleby (Girls) as TV producer Rachel Goldberg, and Constance Zimmer (House of Cards) as Everlasting’s demanding executive producer, Quinn King, with Craig Bierko (Equity), Freddie Stroma (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) and Josh Kelly (Transformers: Dark of the Moon) joining the ensemble cast. The series was created by Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I Am Number Four) and Sarah Gertrude Shapiro (The Bachelor), and was inspired by Shapiro’s award-winning independent short film, Sequin Raze.
The series was nominated for three Critics’ Choice TV awards earlier this year, with Constance Zimmer winning the award for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series. It has alrady been renewed for a third season.
“We’re pleased to be able to bring this celebrated show to Amazon Prime members in the UK and Germany,” says Jay Marine, VP Amazon Prime Video EU. “Joining Golden Globe winners like Mozart in the Jungle, Transparent; the forthcoming Clarkson, Hammond and May show, The Grand Tour; Mr Robot, Outlander and many others, unREAL is a great addition to our line-up of TV shows you can’t watch anywhere else.”
Season 2 sees Rachel return to the new season of Everlasting, with a reputation to rebuild and Quinn breathing down her neck. She must therefore pull out all the stops in what she does best: manipulating the contestants to create the outrageous drama the viewers of Everlasting expect.
