Netflix has officially announced that a director’s cut of Rebel Moon is coming this August.
Zack Snyder’s sci-fi epic follows a peaceful colony on the edge of a galaxy that finds itself threatened by the armies of a tyrannical ruling force, Kora (Sofia Boutella), a mysterious stranger living among the villagers, becomes their best hope for survival. Tasked with finding trained fighters who will unite with her, Kora assembles a small band of warriors to make an impossible stand against the Mother World.
The film was released in two parts, in December 2023 and April 2024.
“Zack Snyder’s ambitious, visually bold epic exists in a galaxy that’s far, far too familiar,” we wrote in our review of Part 1, A Child of Fire.
“Zack Snyder’s visually impressive but hollow concluding chapter of the sci-fi saga doesn’t deliver the joy you are looking for,” we wrote in our review of Part 2.
Now, a director’s cut of each part is on the way. Titled Rebel Moon — Chapter One: Chalice of Blood and Rebel Moon – Chapter Two: Curse of Forgiveness, the two extended versions promise to “delve further into the mythology and madness of Zack Snyder’s epic sci-fi saga” in a “viciously sexier, bloodier world”.
They will both debut together on 2nd August 2024.
