Introducing… The 12 Days of Netflix (again)
Staff Reporter | On 21, Dec 2019Reading time: 3 mins
If you’ve looked at the Netflix Christmas movie line-up in the UK, you’re probably still waiting for Santa Claus to come to town. Because, let’s face it, it’s hardly a selection box of seasonal classics.
There’s Nativity! and… well, that’s pretty much where the good tidings end: otherwise, your streaming socking is full of no fewer than three festive Power Rangers specials.
In 2017, though, Netflix stepped in to change all that – not by adding Die Hard, but by making its own original Christmas movies, including A Christmas Prince, Christmas Inheritance and El Camino Christmas. In 2018, that continued with the pleasant surprise that was The Christmas Chronicles (feat. Kurt Russell as Santa Claus) and the inevitable sequel A Christmas Prince: The Royal Wedding. This year, it’s gone even further, with Holiday Rush, Klaus, The Knight Before Christmas and – yes – A Christmas Prince: The Royal Baby
It’s not in the spirit of this period of good cheer to dismiss Netflix’s efforts, or the rest of its brightly coloured collection, completely. So, to spare you the pain of cinematic sludge this December, we’re watching Netflix’s Christmas films for you. Yes, our 12 Days of Netflix is back for the sixth year in a row.
We’ll be counting down to Christmas by unwrapping one of Netflix’s more dubious festive flicks every day to sort out the naughty from the nice.
Our celebration of all things potentially terrible begins with The Knight Before Christmas, with more added below every day. See below to read our reviews – or follow the hashtag #12DaysofNetflix to keep up-to-date with the world’s most painful Advent Calendar.
