Power Book II: Ghost to return this December
Staff Reporter | On 13, Nov 2020
Power Book II: Ghost will return this December, STARZ has confirmed, as the show resumes its first season.
The series picks up where the original series, Power, left off, starring Mary J. Blige, Cliff “Method Man” Smith as defence lawyer Davis MacLean and several members of the original Power cast. Blige reprises her role as queenpin Monet Stewart Tejada, alongside other familiar faces (including Michael Rainey Jr as Tariq St. Patrick).
The series garnered 8.4 million multi-platform viewers in its premiere week back in September, becoming the most-watched new series premiere on STARZ. Power Book II: Ghost also became STARZPLAY’s most successful launch ever in the UK. In the first five weeks after premiere in the UK, over 400 per cent more viewers have watched “Power Book II: Ghost” than the prior top performer, and the series garnered unprecedented in season viewership growth that included a 50 per cent increase between Episode 1 and 5, setting the all-time streaming record for an episode in its first week on the service.
The debut run for the spin-off, however, was cut short in October, a month after its debut, due to production being halted by the coronavirus pandemic earlier this year. Now, STARZ has confirmed that, with production resumed, the next five episodes are on their way to our screens, kicking off on Sunday 6th December. Episodes will then arrive weekly. Here’s the trailer for Part 2:
