Trailer: Stephen King’s The Stand heads to STARZPLAY this January

STARZPLAY has acquired the rights to Stephen King’s The Stand for release in the UK this January.
The Stand is Stephen King’s apocalyptic vision of a world decimated by plague and embroiled in an elemental struggle between good and evil. The fate of mankind rests on the frail shoulders of the 108-year-old Mother Abagail (Whoopi Goldberg) and a handful of survivors. Their worst nightmares are embodied in a man with a lethal smile and unspeakable powers: Randall Flagg (Alexander Skarsgård), the Dark Man. The Stand will close with a new coda written by the famed author himself for this current adaptation.
In addition to Whoopi Goldberg and Alexander Skarsgård, the series also features James Marsden (Dead to Me), Odessa Young, Jovan Adep, Amber Heard (Aquaman), Owen Teague, Henry Zaga (The New Mutants), Brad William Henke (Orange is the New Black), Irene Bedard, Nat Wolff (Death Note), Eion Bailey, Heather Graham, Katherine McNamara (Arrow), Fiona Dourif, Natalie Martinez (Death Race), Hamish Linklater, Daniel Sunjata (The Dark Knight Rises) and Greg Kinnear.
The series is produced by CBS Studios and Benjamin Cavell serves as showrunner and executive producer alongside Taylor Elmore, Will Weiske, Jimmy Miller, Roy Lee and Richard P. Rubinstein.
The series will premiere in the UK on STARZPLAY on 3rd January 2021. It joins a growing number of exclusives on the streaming service, including Power Book II: Ghost, Ramy, The Great and The Act. STARZPLAY costs £4.99 a month and is currently available on iOS, Apple TV, Roku and Android devices as a standalone app, as well as an add-on to Virgin TV, Amazon Prime Video Channels.
