STARZPLAY will be the new home of the Power Universe, as the TV show expands with multiple spin-offs, including Power Book II: Ghost.
Creator, writer, producer and showrunner Courtney A. Kemp and executive producer Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson have won fans the world over with their Power TV series, which, after six seasons, reach its final ever episode this week. Now, they plan to continue the story with three additional chapters – a prequel and two additional spinoff sequels – all produced by Lionsgate Television.
The expansion will begin with the previously announced Power Book II: Ghost. It will pick up where the original series leaves off, starring Mary J. Blige, Cliff “Method Man” Smith and several members of the original Power cast.
Power Book III: Raising Kanan will follow. The prequel will take viewers back to the 1990s and the early years of iconic Power character Kanan Stark.
Power Book IV: Influence will follow Rashad Tate (played by Larenz Tate) in his ruthless pursuit of political power.
Power Book V: Force will ride along with Tommy Egan (played by Joseph Sikora) after he cuts ties and puts New York in his rearview mirror for good.
“In television history, only a select few shows have inspired four consecutive series extensions, launched into active production and development at the same time,” says Jeffrey Hirsch, President and CEO of Starz. “These new and exciting chapters will continue the journey of some of Power’s most controversial characters while featuring a growing ensemble of complex, distinct characters along with the high-octane drama that set Power in a class of its own.”
The Power series are executive produced by Kemp through her company End of Episode, and Jackson through his G-Unit Film and Television. Also serving as executive producers on the series are Mark Canton through his Atmosphere Entertainment MM, Chris Selak and Danielle De Jesus through End of Episode and Shana Stein and Bart Wenrich. The series is produced by Lionsgate TV for STARZ.
All of them will debut worldwide on STARZPLAY, the premium subscription service from STARZ. The platform, which costs £4.99 a month, is available on Prime Video Channels and Virgin Media, as well as through apps on Apple TV, iOS and Android.
