Marie Kondo is returning to Netflix this summer for new series Sparking Joy.

The global organisation icon and best-selling author takes her signature approach to tidying up a step further in the new show. Marie shows us how the fundamentals of her method can affect businesses, relationships and communities. The impacts of tidying are surprising, emotional and transformative in the lives of the people Marie meets. Throughout the process, viewers will also step into Marie’s own home, meet her family, and get a glimpse into how she sparks joy in her daily life.

Rachelle Mendez will serve as showrunner and also exec-produce alongside Jane Lipsitz, Dan Cutforth, Dan Volpe, Nan Strait and Grace Lee-Toumanidis for Alfred Street. Kondo and Takumi Kawahara will also serve as executive producers for KonMari Media Inc.

 

Sparking Joy: Netflix orders new show from Marie Kondo

Netflix is teaming up with Marie Kondo once again for a new show.

The decluttering expert became a household name worldwide when her lifestyle series, Tidying Up, debuted on Netflix back in 2017. Nominated for Emmys in 2019, she taught homeowners how to make their houses neater, mess-free environments, encouraging people to part with things that they don’t need or don’t make them happy.

Now, in Sparking Joy with Marie Kondo, Marie and her team set out to tidy one small town in America, sparking joy in big new ways – and viewers can nominate which town to be Marie’s next mission by visiting TidyMyTown.com.

Produced by Alfred Street Industries, the series is exec-produced by Kondo alongside Takumi Kawahara, Dan Cutforth, Jane Lipsitz and Dan Volpe .

It joins a number of other unscripted shows renewed by Netflix, including Rhythm + Flow, The Circle and Love is Blind.
