Netflix boards Adam Sandler and Safdie brothers film

Netflix has picked up the new film from the Safdie brothers, which has Adam Sandler attached to star.
Sandler is no stranger to Netflix, having started in and produced a number of comedies for the streamer. While those have received mixed reviews, though, Sandler had rave notices for his starring role in the Safdies’ thriller Uncut Gems, which was snapped up by Netflix. And, most recently, he delivery a warm and charming turn in basketball drama Hustle, a Netflix original film.
During the press tour for that film, Sandler repeatedly mentioned that he would be teaming up with Safdie brothers again, and the siblings have been working on a script. Deadline reports that sources say the film will involve high-end card collecting, but there are no details beyond that as to what the movie will actually be about, with the project officially still in development.
Now, however, the film has taken a big step toward, with Netflix officially boarding the feature. Filming is expected to take place in the second quarter of 2023.
