Narcos Season 2 will premiere in September
13th June 2016
Narcos will return for a second season this September, Netflix has announced.
The streaming service’s original series was renewed last year, chronicling the gripping real-life stories of the infamous drug kingpins of the late 1980s and the corroborative efforts of law enforcement to meet them head on in brutal, bloody conflict.
The series stars Wagner Moura (Elite Squad, Elysium) as Pablo Escobar alongside Boyd Holbrook (Gone Girl) and Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) as real-life DEA agents Steve Murphy and Javier Peña.
José Padilha (Elite Squad, RoboCop) and Eric Newman (Children of Men) serve as executive producers of the series, replacing Season 1’s showrunner Chris Brancato, who departed to work on ABC series Of Kings and Prophets.
“Across its 10 episodes, the first season remains edgy, innovative and, above all, expertly executed,” we wrote in our reviews. “Supremely fascinating and a total roller coaster, Narcos is intelligent, gripping and so, so cool.”
All 10 episodes of the second run will land on Netflix at 8.01am on Friday 2nd September. Season 1 is still available to catch up with, as part of a £7.49 monthly subscription.
