Introducing… QuaranstreamFest
James R | On 26, Mar 2020
With the UK on lockdown amid the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, more and more people are indoors to prevent the virus spreading further. With schools closed, people working from home and others self-isolating, that’s a whole lot of people with a whole lot of time to fill – and with no cinemas open, theatres closed and bars and restaurants on hiatus, you could easily conclude that there’s nothing to do.
As your one-stop shop for online streaming, we’re here to help with your very own stay-at-home culture festival: #QuaranstreamFest.
We’ll be bringing you picks, recommendations, discussions and reviews – from theatre productions available on-demand to the funniest stand-up comedy at your digital fingertips. And, of course, we’ll also be serving up usual daily mix of box set highlights, catch up tv selections and binge-worthy treats, not to mention what’s coming soon and leaving soon on your favourite subscription platforms, or to buy and rent online.
In the mornings, we’ll be there to help parents keep young ones and the family entertained, with lists, reviews and information on kids’ TV and films.
At lunchtime every weekday, we’ll be sparking conversations to give those working at home their water-colour fix.
In the evenings, with the kids in bed, we’ll be diving into the best entertainment for adults – including our regular guide to the best #iplayerfilms available, and our weekly rundown of the best TV shows and box sets on BBC iPlayer.
We’ll be breaking down our cultural strands across each day of the week:
Mondays #Weekendondemand
On Mondays, we host a morning catch-up for all our readers to share what they’ve been watching over the weekend, including their own rating – the perfect way to discover what everyone else is watching.
What’s coming soon to a screen near you? See our guide to the big movie releases arriving online fresh from – or instead of – cinemas.
Tuesdays #TruecrimeTuesdays
On Tuesdays, we’ll be delving into our true crime collection to bring you gripping recommendations or reviews of the latest documentaries.
Need a true crime fix now? Hit up our collection of previous true crime reviews.
Wednesdays #StanduptoWednesday
Whether you’re in the office or not, getting through humpday in the middle of the week is always a challenge, so we’ll be bringing you the funniest stand-up comedy picks from across the web, including homegrown talent as well as big US names.
Looking for a laugh here and now? See our guide to the best stand-up comedy specials currently available to stream.
Thursdays #DigitalTheatreThursday
From Shakespeare to Broadway musicals, a whole range of recorded theatre productions are available to stream without having to leave your living room – we’re here to help you find the brightest and best of the bunch.

Fridays #FilmGoodFridays
Every Friday, we’re all about celebrating the end of the week with the happiest, most uplifting films and TV shows around – because in the current situation, we all need a little cheering up.
Need a pick-me-up sooner than that? Read our guide to the best feel-good films on Netflix, on Sky Cinema and NOW, and included with Amazon Prime.
Sundays #BoxSetSunday
Sundays for us are all about curling up with a good box set and not leaving the house. With the coronavirus pandemic keeping us indoors anyway, that’s one thing that hasn’t changed.
Need something a little sooner than that? Read our guide to the best box sets currently available to binge.
