With England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland all navigating their way back to normality during the coronavirus pandemic, 2021 has seen cinemas fling open their doors once more, but studios are also turning to digital platforms as a way of reaching wider audiences in the living rooms sooner – including a new Premium VOD window that sees titles available to rent for approximately £15 a few weeks after their cinema debut.
For audiences at home, here’s our guide to the major movies and Premium VOD releases available to buy and rent from your sofa in the weeks ahead – plus exclusive premieres on subscription streaming services, whether it’s an arthouse release from MUBI or Amazon Prime Video’s acquisition of The Green Knight.

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent – 11th July
Nic Cage stars as… Nick Cage in this action-comedy about an actor who is creatively unfulfilled and facing financial ruin – and therefore accepts a $1 million offer to attend the birthday of a dangerous superfan (Pedro Pascal). Things take a wildly unexpected turn when Cage is recruited by a CIA operative (Tiffany Haddish) and forced to live up to his own legend, channeling his most iconic and beloved on-screen characters to save himself and his loved ones. Moloch – 21st July
Nico van den Brink’s directorial debut, an official selection of Fantasia Fest, follows 38-year-old Betriek, who lives at the edge of a peat bog in the North of the Netherlands. When she and her family are attacked by a random stranger one night, Betriek sets out to find an explanation. The more she digs, the more she becomes convinced that she is being hunted by something ancient.

The Gray Man – 22nd July
Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans and the Russo brothers are teaming up for The Gray Man, arriving on Netflix this July – and a new trailer gives us a proper glimpse of the action-packed thriller. The title refers to CIA operative Court Gentry (Ryan Gosling), aka Sierra Six. Plucked from a federal penitentiary and recruited by his handler, Donald Fitzroy (Billy Bob Thornton), Gentry was once a highly-skilled, Agency-sanctioned merchant of death. But now the tables have turned and Six is the target, hunted across the globe by Lloyd Hansen (Chris Evans), a former cohort at the CIA, who will stop at nothing to take him out.
