The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again will premiere exclusively on Sky Cinema this Halloween.
Sky Cinema, which launched in July to replace Sky Movies, will celebrate 40 years of the cult horror musical comedy with the UK and Ireland premiere of The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again.
The feature-length reimagining of the 1975 classic is directed by Kenny Ortega (Hocus Pocus), with Victoria Justice (Victorious) and Ryan McCartan (Liv & Maddie) playing Janet and Brad, a pair of sweethearts who stumble far, far from the beaten track. Soon, they are swept into the bizarre world of Dr Frank-N-Furter, a sexually ambiguous and wildly flirtatious mad scientist, hosting an event to showcase the birth of Rocky Horror – a muscle-bound specimen created solely to fulfil his every desire.
The ensemble is led by none other than Orange is the New Black’s Laverne Cox as Dr Frank-N-Furter, the “sweet transvestite from Transsexual, Transylvania” originally brought to life by Tim Curry. This time around, the Emmy and Tony Award-nominated star will make an appearance as The Criminologist, while singer and Game of Thrones actor Staz Nair plays Rocky Horror. Also featured are Adam Lambert (American Idol) as ex-delivery boy Eddie and Reeve Carney (Penny Dreadful) as handyman Riff Raff.
The Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let’s Do the Time Warp Again is from Fox 21 Television Studios, Ode Sounds & Visuals and The Jackal Group. It is executive-produced by Lou Adler (exec producer of the original The Rocky Horror Picture Show), Gail Berman (Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and Kenny Ortega. It is based upon the original screenplay by Jim Sharman and Richard O’Brien, with lyrics and music by Richard O’Brien.
The film will premiere on Sky Cinema on Friday 28th October, when it will also be available to stream on-demand for Sky Cinema customers and NOW Cinema Pass subscribers. A NOW Cinema Pass costs £9.99 a month for full live and on-demand streaming access to the Sky Cinema catalogue. For more information, hit the button below.
