“I wanted to stay in the dark, but I had to come back to the light. Now, watch me disappear.” That’s the sound of Lupin returning to our screens, and a new trailer gives us a first look at Season 3.
Created by George Kay (Criminal, Killing Eve) in collaboration with François Uzan (Family Business), the series is based on the novels by Maurice LeBlanc, featuring gentleman thief Arsene Lupin. It stars Omar Sy as Assane Diop, a master of disguise whose life was turned upside down when his father died after being accused of a crime he didn’t commit. 25 years later, Assane used LeBlanc’s literary hero as his inspiration to get revenge.
“This playfully meta take on France’s gentleman thief is slick, charismatic and effortlessly cool,” we wrote in our review.
Season 2 saw things get personal, as he had to protect his family. Now, Season 3 picks up with Assane in hiding. With the suffering his family have to endure because of him, he can’t stand it any longer and decides to return to Paris to make them a crazy proposal: leave France and start a new life elsewhere. But the ghosts of the past are never far away, and his plans are soon turned upside down.
There’s no word yet on Season 3’s release date, but you can expect it to arrive soon. Here’s the new trailer:
