Update: The Americans Season 6 is now included with Amazon Prime.

The Americans Season 6 has finally got a UK air date – and the good news is that the wait is almost over for the show’s final season.

The sixth outing for FX’s spy drama aired in the USA in March, but will be available to watch online and on UK TV legally this April, thanks to an ongoing deal with ITV. The broadcaster renewed its rights to the show in 2015. The first two seasons of which aired on ITV back in 2013 and 2014, before jumping to ITV Encore, ITV’s premium channel, which is available on Sky channel 123.

For non-pay-TV customers, though, there is good news: ITV Encore is shutting down this summer, which means that The Americans Season 6 is airing on ITV 4, so you catch it live on TV for free, or catch-up at no cost on ITV Hub following its broadcast.

The Americans follows the complex marriage of two KGB spies – Elizabeth (Keri Russell) and Phillip Jennings (Matthew Rhys) – posing as Americans in suburban Washington D.C. shortly after Ronald Reagan is elected President. The period drama is co-produced by Fox Television Studios and FX Productions, created by executive producer, Joe Weisberg (Falling Skies, Damages) and distributed by Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution.

Expect nail-biting drama and plot twists galore as Season 6 picks up the action in 1987. Philip is forced to deal with an unexpected visitor who has a rather troubling request, Elizabeth finds herself being pushed to extremes that she’s never experienced before, and a major arms-control summit looms…

Season 6 begins on ITV 4 on Wednesday 4th April at 10pm, with episodes broadcast every subsequent Wednesday and available to catch up with on-demand with ITV Hub.
