David Farnor | On 25, Jul 2021
The Walking Dead: World Beyond will be back for its second and probably final season this October, and a new trailer gives us a first look at the spin-off’s return.
Following the success of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, the series was greenlit by AMC as it continues to expand its TWD universe. Co-created by Scott M. Gimple, with Matt Negrete on board as co-creator and showrunner., the series focuses on the first generation raised in the zombie apocalypse. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.
The cast for Season 1 included Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Julia Ormond, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston and Nico Tortorella, with guest stars Natalie Gold (Succession, The Land of Steady Habits), Al Calderon (Step Up: High Water), Scott Adsit (Veep, 30 Rock) and Ted Sutherland (Fear Street, Rise).
Almost all of them were in attendance virtually at this week’s World Beyond Comic-Con panel, discussing the future of the spin-off and also announcing Season 2’s air date. That will be on 3rd October in the US, which means you can expect it to arrive on Amazon Prime Video – the UK’s exclusive home of the series – on 4th October, with the remainder of the season’s 10 episodes then arriving weekly.

The Walking Dead: World Beyond set for October release
25th July 2021
The Walking Dead: World Beyond finally has a new release date, with the latest zombie spin-off to shuffle on to our screens this October.
Following the success of The Walking Dead and Fear the Walking Dead, the new series is co-created by Scott M. Gimple, with Matt Negrete on board as co-creator and showrunner. The series will star Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston and Nico Tortorella.
It will focus on the first generation raised in the zombie apocalypse. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. It was originally set to debut in April, but those plans were derailed by the coronavirus outbreak, with The Walking Dead’s main show even unable to air its Season 10 finale until this October. Now, AMC has confirmed that World Beyond will arrive at the same time, with the first two episodes to air back-to-back after the finale of Season 10 in the USA. That means you can expect it arrive on Amazon Prime Video, which has the exclusive UK rights to the show, on Monday 5th April.
The news was announced by Gimple and the show’s cast at its Comic-Con At Home panel last night. The timing indicates once again that there’ll be some kind of link between the two shows beyond the wider universe and mythology. Find out more this October – and, until then, catch up with the panel below. For more on Comic-Con At Home, see our guide to the Comic-Con At Home panels to watch out for and catch up with.

First look: The Walking Dead’s new spin-off shifts focus to youth
6th October 2019
As The Walking Dead prepares to return for its 10th season, AMC is already looking to its latest spin-off, unveiling a new trailer and images at New York Comic-Con.
Te untitled seres will shift the focus of the apocalyptic universe to young people trying to survive the zombie epidemic, with a smaller scale that follows two women in the first generation of people working to stay alive.
The cast was confirmed earlier this summer and includes Aliyah Royale (Iris) and Annet Mahendru (Huck), Alexa Mansour (Hope), Nicolas Cantu (Elton), Hal Cumpston (Silas) and Nico Tortorella (Felix).
The Walking Dead writer and producer Matt Negrete serves as showrunner, with franchise head Scott Gimple credited as co-creator. At the helm is Kong: Skull Island’s Jordan Vogt-Roberts.
Now, we have our first look at what’s in store, with the trailer revealing a group of youngsters braving the wider, dangerous world. The images give us familiar glimpses of a wasteland, including dilapidated trains and coaches, which will be set 10 years after the initial zombie outbreak – a similar place in the TWD timeline to the tenth season of the original parent show.
The trailer and images arrive as AMC also renews The Walking Dead for Season 11. The long-running programme, and its other spin-off, Fear the Walking Dead, will also be joined by an upcoming trilogy of films following Rick Grimes. This new spin-off is expected to debut in 2020.
