No sooner has the slight whiff of embarrassment and silliness departed the Taskmaster studio than Channel 4 has already announced the line-up for its next season.
Once again, the show will see a host of comedy minds sign up for a fresh round of surreal challenges, placing themselves under the scrutiny of Taskmaster Greg Davies and the watchful eye of his obedient assistant Little Alex Horne.
Season 13 will be the fourth instalment of Taskmaster in its new home of Channel 4, following Season 10 – Daisy May Cooper (This Country), Johnny Vegas (Benidorm), Katherine Parkinson (IT Crowd), Mawaan Rizwan (Live At The Apollo) and Richard Herring (RHLSTP) – Season 11 – Charlotte Ritchie (Ghosts, BBC One), Jamali Maddix (Hate Thy Neighbour, Vice), Lee Mack (Not Going Out, BBC One), Sarah Kendall (Frayed, Sky One) and Mike Wozniak (Man Down, Channel 4) – and Season 12 – Alan Davies (QI), Desiree Burch (Live At The Apollo), Guz Khan (Man Like Mobeen), Morgana Robinson (The Morgana Show) and Victoria Coren Mitchell (Only Connect).
“One of the most enjoyably pointless things on TV right now, a blast of absurdity that makes for joyous distraction from life,” we wrote in our review of Season 12.
Who will next brave the most hard-fought but utterly ridiculous show on television? Hoping to win valuable points, eternal glory, and favourable treatment from the Taskmaster in Season 13 will be: stand-up, actor, and author Ardal O’Hanlon (Father Ted, C4), award-winning comedian Bridget Christie (Stand Up For Her, Netflix), stand-up comedian and TV host Chris Ramsey (The Chris Ramsey Show, Comedy Central), comedian and presenter Judi Love (Loose Women, ITV), and comedian, actress, and podcaster Sophie Duker (Live At The Apollo, BBC One).
Season 13 will air on Channel 4 in 2022, most likely in the spring.
