Samuel L Jackson will return as Nick Fury in a new Disney+ series.
The House of Mouse has been looking to expand the Marvel Cinematic Universe on the small screen for some time, and use its subscription streaming service to do it. Those plans have been disrupted somewhat by the coronavirus pandemic, which has brought production on one of its first shows, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, to a halt.
This year, however, WandaVision is still on course to be released, with a new trailer arriving this week for the series. Disney, meanwhile, is still looking forward to expanding its universe further, with a new Nick Fury series in development.
Multiple sources told Variety that Jackson is attached to star, while Kyle Bradstreet (Mr Robot, Berlin Station) will write and exec-produce the series. Any further details of the plot are still not yet know, but it will see Fury continue to play a role that he’s made his own since 2008, when he first appeared in the post-credits sting for Iron Man. He most recently appeared in Spider-Man: Far from Home and Avengers: Endgame, but has also portrayed Fury on the small screen in ABC’s Agents of SHIELD. Nonetheless, the Disney+ project, should it get the full green light, will mark the first regular TV role of the actor’s long career.
The show joins other Disney+ Marvel series including Loki, She-Hulk, HawkEye, Moon Knight and Miss Marvel.
