Darkhold Diaries: Disney+ delays and renames Agatha Harkness series

Loki’s return to our screens may not be for another month, but Marvel and Disney+ are shaking up their timeline for the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a string of delays for their upcoming series.
The most notable is Agatha: Darkhold Diaries, not least because the show has now changed its name for a third time, after previously being called Agatha: House of Harkness and Agatha: Coven of Chaos. The WandaVision spin-off will star Kathryn Hahn and Joe Locke, alongside Emma Caulfield Ford as Dottie. Further details – including rumours of Aubrey Plaza playing a villain – aren’t yet known, but that’s perhaps no surprise in light of the apparent shifts in the project’s overall name.
The series is now set for a delayed release in autumn 2024, just in time for Halloween. It has already completed filming, but it’s one of a number of titles that have been impacted by the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, as the industry fails to meet the terms for better conditions for writers and actors.
Indeed, also delayed by Disney are X-Men 97, pushed from an autumn release this year to early 2024, Ironheart, which, like Agatha’s solo outing, has also completed principal photography, Hawkeye spin-off Echo, moving from 29th November to January 2024, and What If…? Season 2, pushed back to December.
Daredevil: Born Again and Wonder Man haven’t yet finished production, so their release dates are even more up in the air.
Loki Season 2, meanwhile, will still debut on 6th October.
