“We don’t have an anniversary. Or a song. Or even wedding rings.” That’s the sound of Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision returning to our screens in Disney+ series WandaVision.

A blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it follows the two super-powered beings as they live their idealised suburban lives — but begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

The show, directed by Matt Shakman with Jac Schaeffer as head writer, will usher in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The latest trailer gives us our best look yet at just how ambitiously weird the series promises to be, with inventive, set-changing effects and a slippery grasp on what’s real. There’s also a fresh glimpse of Kathryn Hahn’s Auntie Agnes and – in a teaser of how ithe show might link up with the wider MCU, Teyonah Parris as the the adult Monica Rambeau, the daughter of Carol Danvers’ best friend Maria, whom we met as a child in Captain Marvel.

A blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it follows the two super-powered beings as they live their idealised suburban lives — but begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

The show, directed by Matt Shakman with Jac Schaeffer as head writer, will premiere on Disney+ on 15th January 2021, ushering in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, including a wave of other Disney+ Marvel series – and if the latest trailer is anything to go by, it’s set to be an ambitious indication of the kind of multiverse madness Marvel has lined up for its future.

WandaVision gets January 2021 release date

Disney+ has pushed back WandaVision to January 2021.

The show sees Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their Marvel Cinematic Universe roles as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision. A blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it follows the two super-powered beings as they live their idealised suburban lives — but begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

The show, directed by Matt Shakman with Jac Schaeffer as head writer, was originally set to arrive in 2021, before being brought forward to 2020. Now, though, Disney has confirmed that it will, instead, be pushed back to next year, with a release date set for 15th January 2021.

The delayed release follows Disney’s decision to move Pixar’s Soul to Disney+ amid cinema closures due to the coronavirus pandemic. With that animated set for a Christmas Day debut, WandaVision’s jump back by a month stops either notable Disney original stealing the other’s thunder.

The date change was announced by Disney+ with a host of new stills and another teaser video, once again underscoring the unusual tone and concept for the series, which promises to play with sitcom conventions and something much darker – throw Teyonah Parris, Kat Dennings, Randall Park and Kathryn Hahn into the cast list and the show remains one of the MCU’s most promising and intriguing outings. Watch: First trailer for WandaVision

The official trailer for WandaVision has arrived, giving us a first proper glimpse at the Disney+ series.

The show sees Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their Marvel Cinematic Universe roles as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision. A blend of classic television and the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it follows the two super-powered beings as they live their idealised suburban lives — but begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems.

The show was originally set to arrive in 2021, but was brought forward to 2020 earlier this year. Despite the coronavirus pandemic, WandaVision is still on course to arrive on Disney+ later this year, making it the first Marvel series to premiere on Disney+. With Teyonah Parris, Kat Dennings, Randall Park and Kathryn Hahn among the cast – and with Hahn’s smiling suburban presence threatening to conceal something much more villainous – the trailer is a promising tease of the ambitious, unusual vision for the show. WandaVision confirmed for 2020 release on Disney+

WandaVision is officially coming to Disney+ this year, the streaming service has confirmed.

The series, which sees Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany reprise their Marvel Cinematic Universe roles as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision, blends the style of classic sitcoms with the MCU. It follows Wanda Maximoff (Elizabeth Olsen) and Vision (Paul Bettany), two super-powered beings living their ideal suburban lives who begin to suspect that everything is not as it seems. The new series is directed by Matt Shakman, with Jac Schaeffer is head writer.

The show was originally set to arrive in 2021, but was brought forward to 2020 earlier this year. Since then, however, a global pandemic has disrupted Hollywood’s plans, leaving the Disney+ line-up of Marvel series all in the air. The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, which was once set to arrive this summer on the subscription platform, has only just begun to resume production.

Now, however, Disney+ has confirmed that WandaVision’s release is still on for this year. The show, which co-stars Teyonah Parris, Kat Dennings, Randall Park and Kathryn Hahn, doesn’t have a concrete premiere date yet, but Disney+ has unveiled its line-up of originals for the coming months: The Mandalorian Season 2, The Right Stuff, Once Upon a Snowman, Meet the Chimps, The Big Fib and Clouds for October and The LEGO Star Wars Holiday Special, The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse and Marvel’s 616 for November. That means you can expect WandaVision to arrive in December.

Disney+ brings WandaVision forward to 2020

The Mandalorian may have wrapped up for US subscribers, but Disney+ is already looking ahead to what it has lined up for 2020 – and that now includes Marvel series WandaVision.

In a show of confidence, the House of Mouse is bringing the series forward from its planned 2021 release to debut in 2020.

The series stars Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany, reprising their MCU roles as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch and Vision, respectively. Additionally, the series stars Teyonah Parris, who is playing the adult Monica Rambeau, along with Kat Dennings and Randall Park returning to their roles as Darcy and Jimmy Woo. They’ll all be joined by a brand new character, a “nosey neighbor,” played by Kathryn Hahn.

With the series set to tie into the Marvel Cinematic Universe more directly than previous Marvel series, speculation is already running rife about its secretive, unusual premise, which not only introduces a 1950s-style domestic life for the lead pair, but also promises to connect up to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, released in cinemas in May 2021.

With Olsen set to appear in that movie, will she prove to be the eventual villain in Strange’s sophomore solo film? Will Wanda and Vision turn out to be in one of the aforementioned alternate universes? UK fans will be able to find out later this year, with Disney+ set to launch on 31st March.

New image and details arrive for Disney+ WandaVision series

WandaVision is fast shaping up to be the most interesting and unusual of the new crop of Disney+ Marvel series, and the first image and details dropping this week only confirm those suspicions.

Wandavision will follow Vision and Wanda Maximoff (Paul Bettany and Elizabeth Olsen) as they try to live their ideal suburban life together, until they suspect things aren’t what they seem. Described as part sitcom, the series will see the pair joined by Kat Dennings and Randall Park, who will reprise their roles from Thor and Ant-Man and The Wasp respectively. Kathryn Hahn will also appear in the show as a new character.

While the show will not debut on Disney+ until spring 2021, speculation has already been running rife about its secretive, unusual premise, which not only introduces a 1950s-style domestic life for the lead pair, but also promises to connect up to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, released in cinemas in May 2021.

With Olsen set to appear in that movie, all kinds of theories are swirling about the web, from her being the eventual villain in Strange’s sophomore solo film to Wanda and Vision being in one of the aforementioned alternate universes on the small screen. Marvel chief Kevin Feige confirmed at a convention this week that it will see Wanda adopt her official comic book mantle for the first time.

“Having the opportunity to tell more of their story, to see more of what Wanda can do, more of what makes Vision Vision, and — most importantly — reveal a name that I’m not even sure we’ve said in the MCU yet, but we absolutely make a big deal of in the show, which is that Wanda is in fact the Scarlet Witch.”

“What does that mean, that she is the Scarlet Witch? And that’s what we play into in this show, in ways that are entirely fun, entirely funny, somewhat scary, and will have repercussions for the entire future Phase 4 of the MCU.”
