Trailer: Noel Fielding stars in The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin
David Farnor | On 06, Feb 2024
Noel Fielding will be retelling The Completely Made-Up Adventures of Dick Turpin on Apple TV+ this March – and a new trailer gives us a first look at the historical comedy.
The six-episode romp sees Dick Turpin (Fielding) set out on a journey of wildly absurd escapades when he’s made the reluctant leader of a band of outlaws — and tasked with outwitting corrupt lawman and self-appointed thief-taker Jonathan Wilde (Hugh Bonneville). In this irreverent retelling set in the 18th century, Turpin is the most famous but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of lovable rogues, Turpin rides the highs and lows of his new endeavours, including a brush with celebrity, all while trying to escape the clutches of the thief-taker.
The star-studded cast boasts a who’s who of British comedy, including Ellie White (The Windsors), Marc Wootton (High & Dry), Duayne Boachie (Blue Story), Bonneville (Downton Abbey), Tamsin Greig (Episodes), Asim Chaudhry (The Sandman), Dolly Wells (The Outlaws), Joe Wilkinson (Sex Education), Mark Heap (Friday Night Dinner), Geoff McGivern (Free Rein), Michael Fielding (The Mighty Boosh), Samuel Leakey (Gretel & Hansel) and Kiri Flaherty.
You can see them in action on 1st March, when Episodes 1 and 2 premiere on Apple TV+, with the following episodes arriving weekly until the finale on 29th March. Until then, here’s the trailer:

Noel Fielding to star in Dick Turpin series for Apple TV+
12th April 2023
Noel Fielding is getting his own star vehicle in a new Apple TV+ series.
The Mighty Boosh and Great British Bake Off star will take the lead as Dick Turpin, the legendary British highwayman. In this irreverent retelling, Dick is the most famous, but least likely of highway robbers, whose success is defined mostly by his charm, showmanship and great hair. Together with his gang of loveable rogues, Dick rides the highs and lows of celebrity — and does what he can to escape the clutches of the Thief Taker General.
Produced for Apple TV+ by Big Talk Productions, part of ITV Studios, the series will be directed by Ben Palmer (“The Inbetweeners Movie,” “Breeders”), written and created by Claire Downes, Stuart Lane and Ian Jarvis (“The Outlaws,” “The Job Lot”), with Fielding and Jeremy Dyson (“The League Of Gentlemen”) as script consultants. Executive producers are Kenton Allen, Fielding, Victoria Grew, Matthew Justice and Palmer.
The series is yet untitled, but sometimes, a picture of Noel Fielding in a hat is all you need to know.
