Netflix has already renewed Locke and Key for Season 3, before Season 2 has even arrived on our screens.
Based on the best-selling graphic novels by Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez, Locke & Key follows three siblings who, after the murder of their father, move to their ancestral home only to find the house has magical keys that give them a vast array of powers and abilities. But as the Locke children explore the mysterious objects, a demon awakens – and will stop at nothing to steal them.
From Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House), the epic coming-of-age Series stars Darby Stanchfield (Scandal) as Nina Locke, Jackson Robert Scott (IT and IT 2) as Bode Locke, Connor Jessup (American Crime) as Tyler Locke, Emilia Jones (Horrible Histories) as Kinsey Locke, Bill Heck (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) as Rendell Locke, and Laysla De Oliveira as the demon, Dodge.
“A surprisingly dark and darkly surprising ride” is how we described it in our review. “Carlton Cuse, Meredith Averill, and Aron Eli Coleite’s adaptation arrives on Netflix with a tone that’s just edgy and adult enough to stand out from the pack.”
The series premiered on Netflix in February this year and, just a month later, Netflix announced it would return for a second run. Now, it’s given an early green light to a third run too.
“Carlton and Meredith have built an incredible world in ‘Locke and Key’ and we’re excited to have the Lockes return for more in the third season,” said Brian Wright, vice president of overall deals for Netflix, in a statement.
“We have some incredible adventures in store for the Locke family in season 3, and could not be more excited to continue telling our story with our great partners at Netflix,” said Cuse.
