“If we win, Cobra Kai will be out of business.” That’s the sound of an unlikely partnership getting kicked into shape in Season 4 of Cobra Kai – and a new trailer gives us a closer look at the series’ return.
Taking place more than 30 years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament, with Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) and Johnny Lawrence (William Zabka) still at odds, Season 4 finds the Miyagi-Do and Eagle Fang dojos joining forces to take down Cobra Kai at the All Valley tournament… and whoever loses must hang up their gi. As Samantha and Miguel try to maintain the dojo alliance and Robby goes all in at Cobra Kai, the fate of the Valley has never been more precarious. What tricks does Kreese have up his sleeve? Can Daniel and Johnny bury their decades-long hatchet to defeat Kreese? Or will Cobra Kai become the face of karate in the valley?
Season 4 premieres on 31st December. Here’s the trailer:

“Rivalries don’t need to last forever.” That’s the moral at the heart of Cobra Kai’s fourth season, and a new trailer gives us a first proper look at the show’s return.
The series, a sequel to The Karate Kid, sees Ralph Macchio and William Zabka reprise their roles from the 1980s sports classic as arch-rivals Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence – along with Martin Kove as sensei John Kreese. Several decades older, with the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament a distant memory, Daniel LaRusso (Ralph Macchio) lives with his beautiful family, while running a successful string of car dealerships, and Lawrence (William Zabka), whose life has taken a rocky turn, seeks redemption by reopening the infamous Cobra Kai karate dojo, promising to teach local kids how to fight with “a method of fighting your pansy-ass generation desperately needs”.
Season 3 saw Kreese drive up the tension between La Russo and Lawrence. Now, another wave of toxic masculinity is on the cards, as the stakes rise and the All Valley Karate Tournament returns in Season 4. Now, we know that will premiere on 31st December. Here’s the new trailer:

Now, another wave of toxic masculinity is on the cards, with Netflix announcing that Terry Silver will appear in Season 4.
Silver, played by Thomas Ian Griffith in The Karate Kid Part III, is front and centre of a new teaser, which puts the character in silhouette and plays back some of his most famous lines of dialogue from the franchise. The announcement may not come as a surprise to those who watched Season 3, which saw Kreese save Silver’s life during a flashback to his time in Vietnam.
Production has wrapped on Season 4, so expect an air to be confirmed soon for later this year.
Netflix renews Cobra Kai for Season 4
2nd October 2020
Netflix has officially renewed Cobra Kai for Season 4.
Written and executive produced by Josh Heald, Jon Hurwitz, and Hayden Schlossberg, the show proved the biggest success of YouTube’s original productions to date after its debut. With YouTube shutting down its scripted originals slate, the show instead moved to Netflix.
Season 3 will follow the aftermath of Season 2’s brutal climax, as the two rival high school dojos clashed with serious end results – leaving Daniel questioning everything and Johnny hoping for redemption.
Its third season will premiere on 8th January 2021. Just as Netflix announced that release date, though, it also confirmed that it had already greenlit a fourth run.
Brian Wright, Vice President of Original Series at Netflix, commented when the show was first picked up by the streamer: “The appeal of The Karate Kid saga is timeless, and Cobra Kai picks up right where it left off without missing a beat. The rivalry between Daniel and Johnny is one for the ages, and the show has a ton of heart and is a lot of fun. We can’t wait to introduce a new generation of fans to Cobra Kai and are thrilled to be its new home around the world.”
