Netflix orders animated Ghostbusters series from Afterlife team

Netflix has ordered a new animated Ghostbusters series from the team behind Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
The sequel, which was released in 2021, was a direct follow-up from the first two Ghostbusters films, bypassing the third, female-led entry. Directed by Jason Reitman and co-written by Reitman and Gil Kenan, it introduced a new generation of young ghostbusting stars to the franchise.
Now, Netflix has announced that it’s continuing their take no the franchise with a new animated series exec-produced by the pair. It joins a growing number of animated franchise tie-ins, including Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous, Fast & Furious Spy Racers and Kung Fu Panda: The Dragon Knight.
The series is not the first animated Ghostbusters outing, with The Real Ghostbusters and Extreme Ghostbusters appearing on the small screen in the 80s and 90s.
