Liam Hemsworth will star in a new action series for Quibi.
The streaming start-up, which will launch next year, is designed to cater to mobile viewing on-the-go, with films and TV series all divided up into 10-minute chunks.
Co-founded by Hollywood veteran Jeffrey Katzenberg and former HP CEO Meg Whitman, it’s already lined up a string of originals from big names, including a horror show from Steven Spielberg, a project from Idris Elba and another from Guillermo del Toro. Now, it’s added another star to the list: Liam Hemsworth, of The Hunger Games and Independence Day: Resurgence, and the younger brother of Luke and Chris.
The untitled series will see Hemsworth play Dodge Maynard, a terminally ill man who accepts a dangerous proposal: to participate in a game that sees him become the prey. The thriller is created by Scorpion and The Sopranos veteran Nick Santora, who will write and exec-produce alongside Orange Is the New Black and Mad Men’s Phil Abraham, who will direct and also exec-produce.
