Futha Mucka: Samuel L Jackson and Ryan Reynolds to star in Quibi series

Samuel L Jackson and Ryan Reynolds will star in Futha Mucka, a new series at Quibi.
The animated show will see the stars of Hitman’s Bodyguard (pictured) reunite for a comedy that playfully nods to Samuel L Jackson’s screen persona. Jackson and Reynolds are already set to reprise their roles from Hitman’s Bodyguard for a sequel to that film – The Hitman’s Wife’s Bodyguard – but while that project’s arrival is delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, they’re not waiting to team up once again.
Futha Mucka will see Jackson play Reynold’s primary caregiver. Ryan, as the official synopsis reads, loves Sam. But when a minor mishap causes Sam to become Ryan’s primary caregiver, things get weird.
The series is created by Blockers writers Jim and Brian Kehoe, who will serve as showrunners. They will also exec-produce alongside Reynolds and Jackson. The series will be produced by Anonymous Content and Maximum Effort with Titmouse serving as the animation studio.
The project is the latest star-studded show to be lined up for Quibi, as it tries to win over subscribers and catch audiences’ attentions in a crowded streaming landscape. Recent releases include a home movie version of The Princess Bridge, featuring a who’s who of Hollywood, and Die Hart, seeing Kevin Hart play himself. On the way in the coming month are a remake of The Fugitive starring Kiefer Sutherland and Mapleworth Murders, from the creative minds behind SNL.
