“So begins the end…” That’s the sound of Zack Snyder’s Justice League getting ready to bring a new version of the apocalypse to our screens, and a final trailer gives us a a closer glimpse of the extended, recut blockbuster.
The original film, which was released in 2017, saw Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman worked quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against the threat – including Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash. That film was completed by Joss Whedon, after Snyder stepped down from the helm due to a family tragedy.
Now, the Snyder Cut is coming, with a four-hour runtime that includes extra scenes from Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons and Diane Lane, plus Jared Leto’s Joker, Cyborg and Hippolyta, plus a redesigned Steppenwolf, Superman in his black costume and some quality time with big bad Darkseid.
You can enjoy all that on Thursday 18th March, when the film premieres exclusively on Sky Cinema and NOW in the UK – the same as when it premieres on HBO Max in the USA. For more details on how to watch it, click here. In the meantime, read on for the video:
Watch: New trailer for Justice League Snyder Cut
15th February 2021
The official trailer for the Justice League Snyder Cut landed online this weekend and, while there have been a number of video teases so far, this promo gives us the best look yet at what’s been added to the extended superhero outing – including Darkseid and Jared Leto’s Joker.
Now, the Snyder Cut is coming, with a four-hour runtime that once led to talk of the recut being a miniseries. Included in that bumper-length feature are extra scenes featuring Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons and Diane Lane, plus Leto’s Joker, Cyborg and Hippolyta.
In the US, it will premiere on HBO Max on 18th March, and Warner Bros has now confirmed that the film will be available exclusively on Sky Cinema and NOW on the same date in the UK. For more details, click here.
Here’s the new video – and read on below for some images of Leto’s Joker to boot.
First look: Jared Leto’s Joker in Justice League Snyder Cut
9th February 2021
It is now a matter of weeks until the Justice League Snyder Cut is unleashed upon the world, and new images give us a first look at Jared Leto’s Joker, returning for the one-off extended cut.
Now, Warner Bros is readying to release Snyder’s extended four-hour cut, extra scenes featuring Ben Affleck, Amy Adams, Jeremy Irons, Diane Lane, Cyborg and Hippolyta, plus Jared Leto reprising his role as The Joker.
The latter’s appearance was some surprise when it was first announced, with Snyder deciding in retrospect that he wanted to add in Leto’s take on the Crown Prince of Crime, who he played in Suicide Squad.
“The Joker is really the only thing that I thought of in retrospect,” Snyder told Vanity Fair, which debuted two new images today of the Joker. “But I will say that it was always my intention to bring Joker into that world.”
The images present the Joker in a new light, with the face tattoos and crime lord chic replaced by a hospital gown and surgical mask. As for the nature of the scene in which he appears, Snyder explained: “It’s Joker analyzing Batman about who he is and what he is. That’s the thing I also felt like fans deserved from the DC Universe. That is to say, the Jared Leto Joker and the Ben Affleck Batman, they never really got together. It seemed uncool to me that we would make it all the way through this incarnation of Batman and Joker without seeing them come together.”
What has happened to cause a dramatic change in the Joker’s appearance since Suicide Squad? “I would say that there’s been some water under the bridge. Who knows what’s happened,” Snyder teased. “I don’t know if he’s wearing makeup, I don’t know what’s happening. It’s hard to say exactly.”
The four-hour movie will premiere in the US on HBO Max on 18th March. In the UK, where HBO Max doesn’t exist, Warner and HBO have reassured fans that they are working on a UK release strategy. For more details on the release date, click here.

“Hallelujah!” fans of Zack Snyder may well have cried when HBO Max confirmed that it will release the director’s extended four-hour cut online in 2021. And the first full trailer takes that cry literally, giving us a look at the new version of the story with Leonard Cohen singing in the background.
The original film sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat – including Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.
That film was completed by Joss Whedon, with reshoots and rewrites leaving fans unhappy with the end result. After a campaign from fans to have the Snyder Cut released, HBO announced it would release a new, four-hour cut as a miniseries. Yesterday, Snyder took part in DC’s online event, DC FanDome, to debut the new trailer.
The video teases the new footage that will take the cut to its extended length, including big bad Darkseid, a redesigned Steppenwolf, Superman in his black costume and a glimpse of Iris West (Kiersey Clemons), who was cut from the original film.
There’s still no word yet on where the HBO Max title will end up in the UK. Watch this space for more on that. For now, here’s the trailer:

HBO Max releases Snyder Cut teaser
21st June 2020
Barely a month has passed since HBO confirmed that it will actually release the Snyder Cut of Justice League, and it’s already released the first teaser of the recut film.
The new subscription service, which launched last month in the US, announced before its launch that it would be adding to its array of exclusive content one of the most hyped exclusives in recent memory: Zack Snyder’s version of the superhero blockbuster Justice League.
The film sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat – including Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash.
After Snyder stepped down from the film, following the tragic death of his daughter, Joss Whedon was brought in to steer the remainder of post-production, ultimately rewriting and adding various scenes. #ReleaseTheSnyderCut first became a social media cry soon after and, against all the odds, has actually resulted in HBO planning to release the reworked movie as apparently originally planned.
How will it differ? Fans can find out in 2021. Until then, here’s a brief glimpse:
