Emily Blunt and Dwayne Johnson are reuniting for an Amazon Studios thriller about female detective Kate Warne.
The film will see Blunt play Warne, the first woman to become a detective at the Pinkerton Agency. Described as a “prupulsive action adventure” by Deadline, the action-adventure will follow Warne, a real life female Sherlock Holmes in a male-dominated industry, as she paves the way for women in law enforcement and change the world of detecting forever.
Blunt will reteam with Johnson on the picture, after the duo starred in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, which was released simultaneously in cinemas and on Disney+ this summer. Johnson is producing the film for Seven Bucks Productions, along with Hiram Garcia and Dany Garcia, with Blunt producing via Ledbury Productions and Kristina Sorensen producing via Kristina Sorensen Productions.
The film is written by Gustin Nash (Youth in Revolt, Charlie Bartlett), who is also an executive producer. It will be overseen by Kimberly Bialek, a former WME partner who joined Seven Bucks last year as executive vice president.
The project also marks a reunion for Seven Bucks and Amazon Studios, with the two companies co-producing Red One, an upcoming Christmas action-adventure comedy starring Johnson. Johnson, fast becoming a streaming veteran, will also star in the upcoming actioner Red Notice for Netflix, again produced by Seven Bucks.
