Rosa Salazar and Catherine Keener will star in Brand New Cherry Flavor, a horror series at Netflix.

The project, Deadline reports, has been in the works for some time. The eight-episode revenge thriller is based on the cult horror novel of the same name by Todd Grimson. It follows Lisa Nova, an aspiring film director in the sun-drenched world of 1990 Los Angeles, who goes on a mind-altering journey from the streets of Beverly Hills to the forests of Brazil.

Rosa Salazar (Alita: Battle Angel, Undone) will play Lisa, with Catherine Keener (Kidding, Get Out) leading a supporting cast that includes Eric Lange (Escape at Dannemora, Unbelievable), Agents of Shield’s Jeff Ward and The Good Place‘s Manny Jacinto.

The series is written by Nick Antosca (The Act, Channel Zero) and Lenore Zion (Billions, Channel Zero), with Antosca exec-producing through his Eat the Cat banner alongside Zion. Arkasha Stevenson, who helmed Season 3 of Syfy’s Channel Zero, will direct the first episode.

The project is produced by UCP, where Antosca has an overall deal.
