Liza Koshy and Sabrina Carpenter to star in Netflix’s Work It
3rd July 2019
Liza Koshy and Sabrina Carpenter will star in Netflix’s new dance comedy Work It.
The film, which is written by Alison Peck (Ugly Dolls) is directed by Laura Terruso, who co-wrote the feature film Hello, My Name is Doris with Michael Showalter. Choreographing the moves will be Aakomon Jones (Black Panther, Pitch Perfect).
Bringing those moves to life is an equally impressive ensemble, led by two streaming stars: Liza Koshy is no stranger to online audiences after her Youtube Premium series Liza on Demand and Sabrina Carpenter (The Hate U Give) was recently cast in Netflix’s Tall Girl. They will be joined by Keiynan Lonsdale (The Flash, Love Simon), Drew Ray Tanner (Riverdale), Michelle Buteau (Always Be My Maybe, First Wives Club) and Jordan Fisher (To All The Boys 2, RENT Live!).
It follows Quinn Ackerman, whose admission to the college of her dreams depends on her performance at a dance competition. And so she forms a ragtag group of dancers to take on the best squad in school… now she just needs to learn how to dance.
Producing are Alloy Entertainment’s Leslie Morgenstein and Elysa Koplovitz Dutto, plus Alicia Keys’ A.K. Worldwide Productions, Inc and STXfilms Production. Carpenter is an exec-producer.
Production is set to begin this week in Toronto.
