This year saw the surprise launch of Quibi in the UK. Short for “Quick Bites”, the streaming platform delivers programmes and films in short chunks of 5 to 10 minutes each, designed to be watched on mobile phones on the go. A month after its launch, though, the mobile-only platform announced plans to backtrack on its signature proposition and introduce the ability to cast content to TVs – a sign of how challenging an environment it is for a new streaming service to make any headway in a crowded landscape.

With the delay of This Joka with Will Smith until a later autumn release, there are only two original shows arriving on Quibi this month – the return of dating series Singled Out and its new survival thriller Wireless.

Singled Out: Season 2 – 7th September

This dating series, hosted by Keke Palmer and Joel Kim Booster, returns as one person blindly speed-dates a bunch of singles until one is singled out.

Wireless – 14th September

From executive producer Steven Soderbergh comes a suspense thriller like no other. Tye Sheridan stars in the survival tale about a 21-year-old finds himself stranded off a snow covered Colorado road on New Years Eve armed with only his quickly dying phone.

50 States of Fright: SEason 2 – 28th September

Produced by Sam Raimi, the anthology series tells horror stories based on urban legends and folktales. Season 1 featured stories from Kansas, Michigan, Oregon, Minnesota and Florida, aiming to explore the horrors that lurk beneath the surface of the USA. Season 2 will feature stories from Iowa, Colorado, Missouri and Washington.
