If going outside wasn’t nerve-wracking enough, AMC’s subscription service dedicated to horror is here to keep you hiding behind you sofa, kicking off its Halloween celebrations early with two new exclusives, one original and a smattering of modern and classi cgems. September not only sees the debut of The Wind, Spiral and Verotika, but the arrival of 1959’s The Mummy and The Babadook.

30 Days of Night – 1st September
Barrow, Alaska: A remote, isolated town that is plunged into a state of complete darkness for 30 days every winter. It is here that a group of marauding, merciless and bloodthirsty vampires come for a month-long, uninterrupted feast of its helpless residents. Starring Josh Hartnett, Melissa George, Danny Huston, Ben Foster.
The Dead Lands – 1st September

Lost Soul: The Doomed Journey of Richard Stanley’s Island of Dr Moreau – 2nd September
Filmmaker Richard Stanley (Color Out of Space) came up with an ambitious plan for adapting The Island of Dr. Moreau. But casting Val Kilmer and Marlon Brando proved to be his undoing and he was fired off the film. What happens after that must be seen to be believed.
Exclusive: The Wind – 3rd September
An unseen evil haunts the homestead in this chilling, folkloric tale of madness, paranoia, and otherworldly terror. Lizzy is a tough, resourceful frontierswoman settling a remote stretch of land on the 19th-century American frontier. Isolated from civilisation in a desolate wilderness where the wind never stops howling, she begins to sense a sinister presence that seems to be borne of the land itself, an overwhelming dread that her husband dismisses as superstition. When a newlywed couple arrives on a nearby homestead, their presence amplifies Lizzy’s fears, setting into motion a shocking chain of events. One by one the archaeologists who discover the 4,000-year-old tomb of Princess Ananka are brutally murdered. Kharis (Christopher Lee), high priest in Egypt 40 centuries ago, has been brought to life by the power of the ancient gods and his sole purpose is to destroy those responsible for the desecration of the sacred tomb. The Snowtown Murders – 14th Septermber
A disturbed serial killer enlists his girlfriend’s son to help murder his victims in this disturbing film based on a series of killings discovered in Australia in 1999. Justin Kurzel’s unsettling, unflinching drama stars Lucas Pittaway, Bob Adriaens and Louise Harris.
Shudder Original: Spiral – 17th September
Malik (Jeffrey Bowyer-Chapman, American Horror Story), and Aaron (Ari Cohen, It: Chapter Two) move to a small town in search of a better environment for them and their 16-year-old daughter (Jennifer Laporte, Web of Dreams). But nothing is as it seems as something sinister lies behind the picturesque homes and welcoming faces of their new neighbors. With Ty Wood, Chandra West and Lochlyn Munroe. Written by Colin Minihan (writer of the Shudder Original Z and the upcoming new Urban Legend) and John Poliquin, directed by Kurtis David Harder (Summerland).

The Babadook – 30th September
Six years after the death of her husband, Amelia struggles to discipline her out of control 6 year-old Samuel, a son she finds difficult to love. Samuel’s dreams are plagued by a monster he believes is coming to kill them both. When a disturbing storybook called The Babadook turns up at their house, Samuel is convinced that the Babadook is the creature he’s been dreaming about. And when Amelia begins to see glimpses of the creature herself, it slowly dawns on her that the thing Samuel has been warning her about may well be real. Starring Essie Davis, Noah Wiseman, Daniel Henshall.
