What’s coming soon to BritBox UK in September 2020?

BritBox, the streaming service created by BBC and ITV, has officially gone live in the UK, as the public service broadcasters team up to take on Netflix.
This autumn, it’s bringing subscribers a brand new exclusive show in the form of John Simm drama Cold Courage, as well as a host of 25 Film4 favourites – backed up by a true crime collection and modern BBC gems Happy Valley and Summer of Rockets.
Here’s what’s coming soon to BritBox in September 2020:
September offers a smorgasbord of choices for subscribers. The first twenty five Film4 titles will launch on the service on 17th September, with another twenty five added before the end of the year. Murder mystery enthusiasts also have cause for celebration as ‘Crime Scene’, a collection of true crime documentaries, whodunnits and more are showcased throughout the month.
Cold Courage – 3rd September
This international crime drama starring John Simm is based on the award-winning books by Pekka Hiltunen and adapted by David Joss Buckley (Hinterland) and Brendan Foley (The Riddle). Set in London, it introduces two young Finnish women, Mari and Lia, who are drawn together through the “Studio” –– a clandestine group of like-minded people operating off the grid, dedicated to righting the wrongs of the powerful, influential and corrupt.
Crime Documentaries – 3rd September
A collection of thought-provoking documentaries, including The Lockerbie Bombing, Peter Manuel: The End of Evil, Scotland’s Murder Mysteries, In Search of Burke and Hare, In Search of Bible John, Scottish Serial Killers and Fire in the Night. The collection also features Madeleine McCann: Hunt for the Prime Suspect and Manhunt: The Raoul Moat Story.
Made in Chelsea: Seasons 17 to 19 / Specials – 3rd September
A further three seasons of the popular reality series, as well as the Made in Chelsea: NYC, Made in Chelsea LA, Made in Chelsea: South of France and Made in Chelsea: Croatia specials.
Summer of Rockets – 10th September
Set in the UK during the tumultuous summer of 1958, this drama starring Keeley Hawes and Toby Stephens follows Samuel Petrukhin, a Russian-born Jewish inventor and businessman, who is approached by MI5 about a secret mission. Following the Soviet’s launch of the first intercontinental ballistic missile, and the start of the Space Race, fear permeates the lives of all.
Damned: Seasons 1 and 2 – 10th September
A social work bittersweet comedy series starring Jo Brand, Alan Davies, Kevin Eldon, Georgie Glen, Himesh Patel and Isy Suttie.
Trust Me: Seasons 1 and 2 – 10th September
A series of gripping thrillers that expose the dark side of the people we trust to care for us – doctors. Each series features a brand new story and cast and explores a different, often unfamiliar world. When that trust breaks down, no-one is safe. Starring Jodie Whittaker, Blake Harrison and Sharon Small among others.
Film4 Collection – 17th September
BritBox launches its first collection of 25 films, including Trainspotting, The Long Good Friday and Sexy Beast. Exclusives include Shallow Grave, Beast, Charlotte Gray, Croupier and The Hatton Garden Job.
Happy Valley: Seasons 1 and 2 – 17th September
All 12 episodes from the BAFTA award-winning first two series of the BBC drama starring Sarah Lancashire as a police sergeant in a rural West Yorkshire valley.
Blandings: Seasons 1 and 2 – 24th September
Based on the celebrated P.G. Wodehouse stories of the 1920s and 30s, this sitcom is packed with wonderful comic creations. Timothy Spall stars as the amiable and befuddled Lord Emsworth, and Jennifer Saunders as his indomitable sister Connie. David Walliams and Mark Williams also feature.
