What’s coming soon to Netflix UK in August 2023?

Heartstopper finally returns for a second term this August, joined by other returning favourites Ragnarok and The Lincoln Lawyer. Elsewhere, there’s an action thriller starring Gal Gadot, an animation starring Jimmy O Yang and Bowen Yang, an interactive rom-com and a chance to catch a Satoshi Kon classic.
Here’s what’s coming soon to Netflix UK in August 2023:
Beverly Hills Cop – 1st August
Eddie Murphy’s sparkling charisma and comic delivery makes this a hilarious and energetic watch.
Bull – 1st August
Neil Maskell is on fire in Paul Andrew Williams’ intense, brutal revenge drama.
Groundhog Day – 1st August
A film that gets better every time you watch it.
Paprika – 1st August
In Satoshi Kon’s iconic 2006 anime, reality and the dream world are on a collision course after a device that can record dreams is stolen from a psychiatric research facility.
Easy A – 1st August
A starmaking turn from Emma Stone, a serious lesson and an endlessly quotable script make this teen movie an A-grade classic.
Heartstopper: Season 2 – 3rd August
The coming-of-age comedy, based on the webcomic by Alice Oseman, follows Charlie and Nick, who meet at school and become friends before gradually developing a romantic relationship. Season 2 will once again see Charlie (Joe Locke) and Nick (Kit Connor) back in the blue and yellow halls of Truham Grammar School for Boys. Based on Volume 3 of the graphic novels, with lots of additional new material, the sophomore chapter will also follow Tara (Corinna Brown) and Darcy (Kizzy Edgell) as they face unforeseen challenges and Tao (William Gao) and Elle (Yasmin Finney) as they work out if they can ever be more than friends. And, to cap it off, there are exams on the horizon, a school trip to Paris and a prom.
The Lincoln Lawyer: Season 2, Part 2 – 3rd August
The Lincoln Lawyer, Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), an iconoclastic idealist, runs his law practice out of the back seat of his Lincoln, as he takes on cases big and small across the expansive city of Los Angeles. Based on the series of bestselling novels by renowned author Michael Connelly, the second season is based on the fourth book in The Lincoln Lawyer series, The Fifth Witness.
Starstruck: Season 1 and 2 – 8th August
Rose Matafeo is on winning form in this charming, enjoyable and highly bingeable rom-com.
Painkiller: Season 1 – 10th August
This fictionalised retelling of real events explores some of the origins and aftermath of the opioid crisis in America, highlighting the stories of perpetrators, victims, and truth-seekers whose lives are forever altered by the invention of OxyContin. Directed by Peter Berg, starring Taylor Kitsch.
Down for Love: Season 1 – 11th August
A heartwarming quest for love, this feel-good reality show follows several people with Down syndrome as they navigate the trials and triumphs of dating.
Heart of Stone – 11th August
Rachel Stone is an intelligence operative, the only woman who stands between her powerful global peacekeeping organization and the loss of its most valuable – and dangerous – asset. Gal Gadot and Jamie Dornan star.
Depp v Heard: Season 1 – 16th August
Netflix’s docuseries examines the infamous defamation case that captured the world’s attention as the first Trial by TikTok, and questions the nature of truth and the role it plays in our modern society.
The Monkey King – 18th August

Ragnarok: Season 3 – 24th August
Adam Price’s series is a coming-of-age thriller fused with environmental themes and Norse mythology. Season 3 will conclude the saga with an epic final battle of gods, as Magne’s fortitude faces its ultimate trial and he navigates the many relations he has forged in his small town. Who is his friend? Who is his enemy?
Who Is Erin Carter?: Season 1 – 24th August
A British woman’s tranquil life in Barcelona spirals out of control when an armed robbery at a supermarket exposes her secret… and violent past.
Choose Love – 31st August
