What’s coming soon to Netflix UK in May 2019?
David Farnor | On 25, Apr 2019
May. A month of sunshine but also, most important of all, two Bank Holidays. Netflix is putting them to good use this year, with a packed month of new titles and old gems. New next month are Ava DuVernay’s When They See Us, and Joe Swanberg’s Easy (bidding farewell with its final run), as well as funny friendship tales Dead to Me, Tuca & Bertie and People Just Do Nothing – or, in the case of Lord of the Flies-inspired The Society, and Season 2 of dystopian survival thriller The Rain, a tale of friendship that’s distinctly less amusing.
She’s Gotta Have It also returns for Season 2, alongside Good Girls, while What/If, starring Renee Zellwegger, makes its debut. But the hottest arrival has to be Lucifer, which returns for a fourth run of devilish crime-solving. For film lovers, meanwhile, there’s everything from Glenn Close’s Oscar-nominated turn in The Wife and London Film Festival prize winner Joy to Amy Poehler’s directorial debut, Wine Country, and (after quietly arriving on digital platforms last year) the very belated Netflix release of Bong Joon-ho’s modern masterpiece, Snowpiercer.
