What’s coming soon to Amazon Freevee in August 2023?

Freevee, Amazon’s ad-supported free streaming service, has had a rebrand. The platform, formerly known as IMDb TV, is part of the Amazon Prime Video app, and provides films and TV shows for free, but with adverts.
It requires an Amazon account to use, but does not require any payment, memberships or subscription. It does not include everything that would normally be included with an Amazon Prime subscription, but there are some titles that are also available part of an Amazon Prime subscription, so that viewers can pay should they want to watch with no adverts. (For a full explanation of how it works, click here.
Each month, Amazon will be adding titles to the Amazon Freevee library, from third party acquisitions to exclusive originals. This month that includes Amazon Originals that were previously only available with Amazon Prime, including Homecoming and Hanna.
Here’s what’s coming soon in August 2023:
Get Out – 1st August
A scathingly sharp horror that doesn’t need monsters to be horrifying.
Super 8 – 3rd August
As meta as Cloverfield and as moving as The Goonies.
Anthropoid – 3rd August
A driven and subtle story of striking heroism.
Scott Pilgrim vs the World – 10th August
Mature, childish and thrillingly inventive, Scott Pilgrim is awesome, surprising no one.
Neighbours (2021-2022) – 10th August
The final 18 iconic episodes of the soap opera join the archive library on Amazon Freevee – plus a 12-minute Neighbours: A Look Back featurette.
Homecoming: Season 1 – 11th August
Based on the hit podcast of the same name, the thriller follows Heidi (Julia Roberts), a case worker at the Homecoming initiative, a program overseen by a large private company that works to help soldiers transition from the military and back into civilian life. But when we first catch up with her, several years later, she’s no longer at the scheme, and can’t remember a thing about it. A slick, small-scale thriller powered by old-school paranoia.
Hanna: Season 1 – 18th August
Amazon’s gripping, surprising and action-packed thriller comes of age the more it outgrows the 2011 film.
The Last Tycoon: Season 1 – 18th August
F Scott Fitzgerald’s final, unfinished novel is turned into entertaining but unremarkable melodrama.
Mad Dogs: Season 1 – 24th August
Almost impossible to stop streaming, Mad Dogs is not remarkable, but it is remarkably watchable.
Jean-Claude Van Johnson: Season 1 – 24th August
Jean-Claude Van Damme plays himself in this new action comedy series.
The Moment: How Sports Changed the World – 25th August
An archival documentary, The Moment highlights the success of the South African national rugby team in the 1995 Rugby World Cup, airing just before the 2023 Rugby World Cup — nearly 28 years after the film’s events took place.
