What’s leaving Sky and NOW TV in October / November 2018?
David Farnor | On 16, Oct 2018
Autumn is here and that means nights in on the sofa on increasingly dark evenings. Fortunately, there’s no end of things to catch up with on NOW or Sky before they depart from the streaming ether.
Sky’s box set collection is bidding farewell to the one of the best TV shows of the modern age, as well as a whole host of superhero treats.
Sky Cinema, meanwhile, is waving goodbye to a diverse array of movies, from A Beautiful Mind and The Good, The Bad And The Ugly to Rogue One and Zootropolis.
Whichever you subscribe to, this coming month is your last chance to stream the following:
TV
The Leftovers: Season 1 to 3 – 24th October
Profound, provocative and perfectly performed, HBO’s drama about the people left behind when a small percentage of the world’s population unexpectedly disappear is one of the best TV shows of the last 20 years.
Legion: Season 1 and 2 – 25th October
Noah Hawley’s X-Men series is a mind-bending modern gem, as follow David Haller (Dan Stevens), a haunted man with power beyond comprehension. His power does not come free, but at the steep cost of David’s mind. Plagued by numerous split personalities – each commanding a different aspect of his power – David is trying to find his way back to sanity. He’s getting tired and about to give up, until he meets the girl of his dreams (Rachel Keller)…
Desperate Housewives: Season 1 to 8 – 6th November
Mixing satire, comedy and mystery, this Emmy-winning drama explores the darker side of suburbia. Here, on Wisteria Lane, homemakers tend their husbands, children and flower beds, while barely suppressing the fears, secrets and anxieties that threaten to destroy their seemingly idyllic lives.
Roast Battle: Season 2 – 6th November
Jimmy Carr, Jonathan Ross and Katherine Ryan oversee comedians battling it out in a slinging match of verbal mud, foul-mouthed jokes and offensive insults.
Flight of the Conchords: Live in London – 6th November
Bret and Jemaine get the band back together for a laugh-out-loud mix of old classics and new gems in this 90-minute special.
DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow: Season 1 to 3 – 14th November
Before the time-travelling gang return to our screens for more adventures in The Waverider, don’t miss your chance to catch up with the first three entertaining series.
Supergirl: Season 1 to 3 – 14th November
The CW’s hugely positive and inspiring superhero series is an important one to watch, especially if you are, or you have, a young girl. With Season 4 kicking off this autumn, don’t miss your chance to catch up with the first three.
The Flash – 14th November
Catch up with The Flash’s first four seasons, before Barry Allen returns to Sky One for a fifth run. You’ll have to be quick, though, with Season 1 also set to depart Sky Box Sets and NOW on 20th October.

Movies
A Beautiful Mind – 31st October
Russell Crowe is on award-winning form as troubled mathematician John Nash, who agrees to take on secret work for the government helping to crack codes.
Rogue One: A Star Wars Story – 10th November
Felicity Jones shines as fugitive Jyn Erso in this Stars Wars prequel, which tells the story of how the Death Star plans were stolen before Episode IV. Ben Mendelsohn is having fun as the villainous Krennic, while Mads Mikkelsen brings emotional weight as Jyn’s father. The star of the show, though, is the action, which erupts in the final act to turn sci-fi into war movie, as director Gareth Edwards combines Saving Private Ryan and George Lucas’ universe to visceral effect.
Zootropolis – 17th November
Disney’s comedy takes place in a world where talking animals have put aside their natural differences in the circle of life to coexist peacefully. A positive political message in a family animation? It’s done so wittily, subtly and amusingly that this is one of the best animations of the year.
