Winter’s still here and February is the perfect time for nights in on the sofa – well, while it’s still February. With March on the horizon, the weather might not be getting much warmer, but it’s still sweeping away your favourite films and box sets on Sky Box Sets.

Sky’s on-demand TV catalogue is bidding farewell to Inside No. 9’s impeccable second season, the first run of ITV’s Marcella, the third and final season of Broadchurch, Cowboy Bebop, plus Rick and Morty, which is disappearing into the ether one episode at a time.

Sky Cinema, meanwhile, is waving goodbye to some of the best of recent years, including Midnight Special, The Jungle Book and The Witch (all migrating to Netflix UK), plus Pixar’s moving Inside Out and the Coens’ toe-tapping Hail, Caesar!.

The Godfather Trilogy – 28th February

Francis Ford Coppola’s gangster trilogy, starring Al Pacino, Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro, is some of the best crime cinema ever committed to celluloid.

Florence Foster Jenkins – 28th February

Meryl Streep is on splendid form in this comedy based on the true story of Florence Foster Jenkins, a 1920s New York socialite whose attempts to make it on stage resulted in her being dubbed the worst singer in the world. Hugh Grant is wonderful as the English husband encouraging her.

Midnight Special – 7th March

Jeff Nichols confirms himself as one of the most exciting, recognisable US indie directors around with this quietly dazzling sci-fi, which sees the government and a mysterious cult pursue a young boy with special powers and his kidnappers across the country. Steeped in Spielbergian sentiment and sincerity, it’s a film that channels the nostalgic wonder of the 80s into an engrossing study of fatherhood and faith. If you liked Stranger Things, try this.

The Jungle Book (2016) – 9th March

A live-action remake sounds like a terrible idea, until you actually see what Jon Favreau has made: a thrilling, adorable flick that combines old songs with a renewed sense of peril. Ideal family viewing.

Hail, Caesar! – 10th March

The Coen bros kick back and relax with this Hollywood-based comedy about a fixer in period LA (Josh Brolin), who finds himself having to deal with kidnappings, reshoots and idiotic actors. The result isn’t one of the directors’ best, but it’s charmingly hilarious, with a scene-stealing turn from Channing Tatum.

Inside Out – 15th March

“The best Pixar films have always had an element of autobiography about them, and Inside Out reads practically like a manifesto for Pixar’s output – heck, it’s practically a tour of the studio. Gather a bunch of diverse personalities together and let them work the controls in order to inspire outrageous flights of imagination, devastating heartbreak and cinematic joy. It was only a matter of time before Pixar made the logical leap and actually made a film from the viewpoint of the emotions they have so effortlessly mined over the past 20 years.” (Our full review)

The Witch – 17th March

Never trust a goat. That could be the moral of the story in The Witch, which sees a Christian family head into the forest to live a more devout life in 17th century New England. Director Robert Eggers mounts an atmosphere of pure horror through chilling visuals, a haunting score and a palpable sense of unease. Across 90 slow yet beautiful, minutes, The Witch slips under your skin and leaves you squirming in discomfort. A genuinely creepy horror.

Inside No. 9: Season 2 – 28th February

Ever since The League of Gentlemen, Steve Pemberton and Reece Shearsmith have been masters of chilling comedy. Their second anthology of miniature plays continue to combine horror and humour to darkly comic effect.

Marcella: Season 1 – 15th March

Co-created by Hans Rosenfeldt (The Bridge), ITV’s crime thriller brings Scandinavian chill to the streets of London, as we follow police detective Marcella, whose husband leaves her just as a serial killer appears to return out of her past. Anna Friel delivers an impeccable performance, making for a compelling binge-watch.

Broadchurch: Season 3 – 21st March

Chris Chibnall’s third season tales us back to the Dorset coast shocked by the death of young Danny Latimer all those years ago, and fresh horrors float on that tapestry of fear and tragedy, as Trish (Julie Hesmondhalgh) reporting a rape several days after she was assaulted at a party. And so she’s taken under the wing of Olivia Colman’s tender DI Ellie Miller – and the slightly less comforting wing of David Tennant’s ever-abrasive DI Alec Hardy. Gently balancing raw emotions with compelling police work, this is Broadchurch back at its best.
