What’s leaving Sky and NOW TV in December 2017 / January 2018?
David Farnor | On 28, Dec 2017
The end of the year is almost upon us and while we look forward to 2018, we also have to bid farewell to box sets and movies past, because the close of 2017 means the departure of many things from Sky’s colossal on-demand line-up.
From Alan Partridge and Amy Schumer to The Walking Dead, December and January sees a bunch of top box sets disappear. Sky Cinema, too, will say goodbye to a number of favourites, new and old, from Michael Bay blockbusters to Michael Haneke dramas.
Not a Sky customer? You can get access to both Sky Box Sets and Sky Cinema through contract-free streaming service NOW, which costs £8.99 a month (for an Entertainment Membership, including Sky 1, Sky Atlantic, FOX UK and more), or £9.99 a month for the whole Sky Cinema catalogue. Whichever you subscribe to, this is your last chance to stream the following:
TV
I’m Alan Partridge Season 1 – 31st December
Aha!
Broad City: Season 1 to 3 – 1st January
What started out as a web series about two women in New York has blossomed into a Comedy Central favourite, starring Ilana Glazer and Abbi Jacobson.
Inside Amy Schumer: Season 1 to 4 – 1st January
Stand-up superstar Amy Schumer’s Emmy Award-winning series explores sex, relationships and the tribulations of everyday life with sketches, standup comedy and wildly inappropriate woman-on-the-street interviews.
Curb Your Enthusiasm: Season 9 – 3rd January
Larry David’s return is as hilariously awkward and indignant as ever.
The Walking Dead: Season 8, Part 1 – 10th January
Before The Walking Dead returns in February, don’t miss your chance to get up to speed with the brewing conflict between Negan and Rick…
Sick Note: Season 1 – 11th January
A lie spirals seriously out of control in this brilliantly dark comedy starring Rupert Grint. He plays Daniel, a down-on-his-luck call centre worker who finds his life, surprisingly, gets better when he is told he has a terminal illness. So when it turns out his incompetent doctor (Nick Frost) got it wrong, they decide to keep schtum. But that one fib soon leads to another… and another. Caught in a tangle of tall tales, things start to go very badly indeed for Daniel and the doctor. Don Johnson also stars, while Little Britain’s Matt Lipsey directs.
Wolf Creek: Season 1 – 11th January
Based on the hit film series, murdering psychopath Mick Taylor (John Jarratt) returns to wreak havoc in Wolf Creek – except this time things are different: this time the victim fights back. Mick chooses a family on vacation in Northern Australia to terrorize and destroy, but that is merely the inciting incident to a much larger story.
Marvel’s Inhumans: Season 1 – 12th January
Marvel’s latest big budget TV show explores the never-before-told epic adventure of the Royal Family, including Black Bolt, the enigmatic, commanding King of the Inhumans, with a voice so powerful that the slightest whisper can destroy a city.
Jordskott: Season 1 – 12th January
Set deep in the ancient forests of Sweden, this Nordic drama combines familiar Scandi crime beats with a hint of fairytale lore to create a compelling 10-part box set. Seven years after the disappearance of her daughter Josefine, police investigator Eva Thörnblad is still trying to cope with the grief of her loss. Even though her daughter was said to have drowned, Eva knows in her heart that someone had taken her child on that fatal day by the Silverhöjd lake. So when a young boy goes missing in the same forest of Silverhöjd, Eva returns to delve into the dark mystery that haunts her. As she is drawn into the investigation she learns that that there is a much deeper and darker force in operation but how far is she willing to go to protect the one she loves?

Movies
The White Ribbon – 29th December
A baron (Ulrich Tukur), a doctor (Rainer Bock) and a pastor (Burghart Klaussner) rule over a small German village with a stern hand. Michael Haneke’s study of conformity is harsh, provocative viewing.

The Danish Girl – 8th January
Tom Hooper’s film about Danish artist Lili Elbe, one of the first people to undergo a sex-change operation, boasts two excellent performances from Eddie Redmayne and Alicia Vikander.
