YouView has added the new BBC IPlayer and Red Button to its on-demand line-up.
YouView is now in over 1 million connected UK homes offering a easy to use on demand TV service, with catch-up TV integrated into a standard TV guide, as well as pause, rewind and record functionality. Now, YouView customers will be able to watch exclusive BBC iPlayer programmes and discover their favourite BBC TV shows more easily with the addition of new iPlayer and the Red Button.
The newly redesigned iPlayer interface, which has been rolling out across platforms this year, arrives just as the catch-up window for series is extended to 30 days and the Beeb places a growing emphasis on online content, including iPlayer-only behind-the-scenes show Doctor Who Extra.
They will also be able to access a wider choice of video and streaming content via the BBC Red Button, which can be launched from BBC TV channels. As well as live streams of sports and news clips available throughout the day, there are also match reports, sports highlights and a BBC weather forecast tailored to your postcode.
Richard Halton, CEO of YouView, comments: “We are delighted to give YouView customers the best in free-to-air functionality. New BBC iPlayer and BBC Connected Red Button are just two of the many ways we’re evolving and improving the YouView on demand TV service, ensuring seamless and easy access to great TV for everyone.”
New BBC iPlayer and BBC Connected Red Button will launch today in a staggered rollout for YouView Humax retail set-top boxes and YouView from BT set-top boxes. This update will be added to YouView from TalkTalk set-top boxes in due course.
