Constantine is now available to watch online in the UK on Amazon Prime Instant Video, where it will be released within 24 hours of the show’s US broadcast.
The series, which premiered on NBC on Friday 24th October, will not have a UK broadcast on TV but will be released straight to Amazon’s subscription video on-demand service (which costs £5.99 a month).
Amazon’s deal with Warner Bros. TV has already landed it a string of DC superhero titles, including Arrow Season 1 and most of the animated Batman series. It follows a string of similar, landmark TV agreements, which have secured Amazon the UK streaming rights to Halle Berry-starring sci-fi Extant (also released within 24 hours of its US broadcast) and Community Seasons 1 to 5.
Constantine is based on DC Comics’ Hellblazer graphic novels and follows an occult investigator’s battle against the forces of darkness. It is the latest in a long line of superhero series arriving in UK living rooms, as comic books get the small screen treatment. While Arrow (Season 3 of which premieres on Thursday) and The Flash (available to watch online from Tuesday) showcase DC’s lighter adventures, though, this show takes a far darker path…

Otherwise, here’s everything you need to know about Constantine:
What is Constantine?
John Constantine is a grumpy, chain-smoking, blond British occult investigator, who was introduced the world through DC Comics’ Hellblazer graphic novels. They were adapted in 2005 for a movie starring Keanu Reeves as a non-British, non-blond Constantine. It was not very well received. The show aims to be closer to the original graphic novels (except for the chain-smoking part).
The series’ showrunner (and Exec Producer) is Daniel Cerone, who has previous with the supernatural from Charmed and experience with anti-social anti-heroes from Dexter. He co-scripted the pilot with David Goyer, of The Dark Knight Trilogy. The opening episode is directed by Game of Thrones’ Neil Marshall.
Who’s in it?
Matt Ryan stars as John Constantine – both blond and British – and is joined by Lucy Griffiths as naive sidekick Liv Aberdine. Liv has since been written out of the show, though, with Angélica Celaya taking on the lead female role of the comics’ character Zed. Harold Perrineau will play Constantine’s guardian angel, Manny.
How many episodes?
10.

Will Constantine link with other DC TV shows?
At the moment, no. While Arrow and The Flash, which cross over heavily, are both on The CW, Constantine airs on NBC. Additionally, Constantine’s separate universe allows its darker tone – focusing on the occult and the supernatural – to contrast with the more light-hearted masked crusaders.
What is the Constantine UK air date?
Saturday 25th October. More episodes will be added to Amazon Prime Instant Video every following Saturday – within 24 hours of their original US broadcast.
Where can I buy or rent Constantine online?
Amazon Prime Instant Video. The subscription service costs £5.99 a month, no contract, and has a 30-day free trial. For free UK next-day delivery as well, you can sign up to a full Amazon Prime membership, which costs £79 a year.
Amazon already has a deal with Warner Bros. TV, which has given it the rights to Arrow Season 1.
Constantine is currently available to buy and download on Google Play.
