XOXO joins Netflix summer line-up
21st June 2016
Netflix’s XOXO will premiere this August, the streaming giant has announced.
The ensemble comedy set against the backdrop of America’s biggest EDM festival was unveiled by Netflix earlier this year, as part of its growing line-up of original content.
Written by Dylan Meyer, XOXO follows six strangers whose lives collide in one frenetic, dream-chasing, hopelessly romantic night. At the center is Ethan, a young DJ who gets a last minute slot to perform after his tracks go viral online days before the festival. He just has to make it there in one piece.
The film is produced by Pete Tong, who also lends his EDM expertise to the film as Music Supervisor. The cast includes Sarah Hyland (Modern Family), Graham Phillips (The Good Wife), Brett DelBuono, Chris D’Elia (Undateable), Haley Kiyoko (Jem & The Holograms), Colin Woodell (Masters of Sex), Ryan Hansen (Party Down, 2 Broke Girls), Ian Anthony Dale (Hawaii Five-0) and Ione Skye (Say Anything).
It is directed by Christopher, with Louie Max Leitman, Joe Russell p.g.a., Christopher Louie p.g.a., and Dan Shafer joining Tong as producers.
It is one of several Netflix originals lined up for the summer, as the streaming giant shows no fear in trying to tempt viewers back into their living rooms and away from the sunshine. Other titles premiering on Netflix in the coming months include Tallulah, starring Elliot Page and Allison Janney, premiering 29th July, and Baz Luhrmann’s musical series The Get Down, premiering on 12th August.
XOXO will follow both with a worldwide premiere on Netflix on Friday 26th August at 8.01am.
