Wuaki.tv has signed a new deal with HBO to add a range of its titles to the site’s digital video store.
The service, owned by Rakuten, will now stock several HBO Home Entertainment UK titles, including Game of Thrones, True Detective, Boardwalk Empire, Girls, VEep and True Blood.
“The digital retail landscape is an exciting space right now, and this is a great time to be adding a company like Wuaki.tv to the growing list of places you can purchase HBO content,” comments Colin Smith, Director of International Digital Distribution for HBO.
“Wuaki.tv truly understand the value of the HBO brand, and are as thrilled as us to now be giving their customers quick and easy access to our programming.”
Simon Homent, UK Content Director for Wuaki.tv, adds: “We’re very excited to add HBO to our UK offering to be one of the most complete movie and TV on-line video services in the market.”
It marks another step for HBO, who are increasingly making their shows available through digital services following an exclusive deal with blinkbox in summer 2013 to offer Game of Thrones months before its traditional disc release. Season 4 of Game of Thrones has since been available live and on catch-up on Sky’s NOW.
Wuaki.tv launched in the UK last year with an unique service offering both pay-per-view and subscription video on-demand – a model that Amazon has also adopted for its Amazon Instant Video and Prime Instant Video platforms.
