“We wanna a make a movie…” That’s the starting point for The Offer, Paramount’s new TV series telling the story of the making of The Godfather.
The 10-episode drama is based on producer Albert S Ruddy’s experiences of making the classic gangster film. The series stars Miles Teller as Albert S Ruddy, Matthew Goode as Robert Evans, Juno Temple as Bettye McCartt, Giovanni Ribisi as Joe Colombo, Dan Fogler as Francis Ford Coppola, Burn Gorman as Charles Bluhdorn, Colin Hanks as Barry Lapidus and Patrick Gallo as Mario Puzo.
Created and written by Michael Tolkin (Escape at Dannemora) and also written and executive produced by Nikki Toscano (Hunters), who serves as showrunner, the series also has impressive talent at the helm, with Dexter Fletcher (Rocketman) directing the first block.
The series is one of the flagship titles for 2022 for Paramount+, Paramount’s recently rebranded streaming service, which is also set to launch in the UK this year – both as a standalone app and as a service built into the Sky TV platform, albeit with its own subscription price. The exact details on the UK launch are yet to be confirmed, but with The Offer set to debut in the USA on 28th April, you can expect Paramount+ to be on our screens this side of the pond by then.
The first 3 episodes will be launched together, followed by the remainder streaming weekl on Thursdays. Here’s the trailer, as revealed by Toscano during Paramount+’s virtual Television Critics Association (TCA) presentation this week.
