Walter Presents is welcoming back Professor T for a third season in 2019.
Belgium’s most neurotic and endearing detective returns to kick off the New Year for the streaming service dedicated to foreign-language TV. The gripping crime thriller follows the show’s namesake, a prodigal criminologist at Antwerp University who has inspired scores of students with his punchy teaching techniques.
The series has found a strong fanbase ever since it first aired on All 4’s Walter Presents, with our review praising it as “a warm and (almost) cosy antidote to Scandi Noir”.
Season 3 picks up events after the world’s most germophobic man was sent to his own personal hell: a filthy men’s prison, where the control over his routine and spotless surroundings he depends upon are taken from him. For the mysophobic and autistic professor, he could not be thrown into a more challenging situation. However, against all odds he finds a way to embrace his new life and thrive: when a fellow prisoner claims to be wrongly accused of murder, Professor T dusts off his gloves and sets to proving his innocence. They say old habits die hard…
His reputation may have been saved within prison and guaranteed him a steady stream of wrongly accused defendants to save, but on the outside, the Antwerp police department strongly sense his absence. Despite new talent on the team, they desperately lack his interfering genius to solve the constant supply of complicated crimes that come their way.
The show’s return comes with a little bonus treat, as the series has recorded a scene dedicated to Walter Presents, celebrating its relationship with the online channel.
“We didn’t even know season one had been sold in the first place. Just reading the uplifiting and positive twitter comments was both encouraging and surreal… it was an honour to be noticed at all, let alone by the UK – the undeniable TV-drama-land-of-plenty!” comments creator and writer Indra Siera comments. “And thus, in honour of Walter’s support – and the wonderful reactions of the UK public, we shot an extra scene as a sincere token of our gratitude in which Professor T imagines his cellmate being thrilled to be paired up with him.”
The scene was eventually cut due to music licensing, but you can watch it on Vimeo here.
All 13 episodes of Professor T Season 3 will be available to stream as a box set on Walter Presents from Friday 4th January 2019.
