Viewster is now available on Xbox 360.
The ad-supported VOD service, which is available worldwide, has established a large following, thanks to its wide library of anime.
More than ten thousand titles are available to stream from anime and thrillers to sci-fi and fantasy. Japanese series are often difficult to find anywhere legally in the UK, especially with subtitles, but Viewster invites fans to join a translation community to create subtitles on a professional level.
The site also regularly hosts a film festival (the Viewster Online Film Fest), which features up-and-coming film-makers in a series of different genres and formats.
Viewster’s compatibility with devices has been equally widespread. The site is pre-installed as a free app on Smart TV models from major manufacturers, including Samsung, Toshiba, LG, Philips TP Vision, Panasonic, Sony, Hisense, Loewe, Roku, Vestel and Sharp. It is also available as a free app for iOS and Android devices, both of which are Chromecast compatible. Earlier this year, the site launched an app for Amazon Fire TV too.
Games consoles, though, have been absent from the line-up – until now. This week, Viewster introduced an Xbox 360 app, which is available to download from the Xbox Marketplace for free.
Viewster suggests that current generation console users will soon be catered for too. “PS3/4 and Xbox One peeps: We haven’t forgotten about you. Promise,” writes the site on its blog.
