BBC iPlayer is bringing back a host of 1990s favourites this month, with Victoria Wood’s dinnerladies leading the charge.
Every episode of dinnerladies, Keeping Up Appearances and This Life will be streaming on BBC iPlayer in the coming weeks.
Available from today is Wood’s sitcom set in the canteen of Manchester-based factory HWD Components. Created, written, co-produced by and starring the comedic national treasure, dinnerladies follows the lives of caterers and regular customers. The iconic sitcom has an equally iconic cast, including Julie Walters, Celia Imrie, Thelma Barlow, Maxine Peake and Anne Reid. Both seasons of the show, which was first broadcast in 1998, are streaming now on BBC iPlayer.
Another classic 90s British sitcom, Keeping Up Appearances, will arrive on 16th November, with viewers able to stream all five seasons of Patricia Routledge and Clive Swift as social-climber Hyacinth Bucket and her long-suffering husband, Richard.
Cult drama This Life is next on 30th November, with both seasons and a 10-years-later special. Starring Amita Dhiri, Andrew Lincoln, Daniela Nardini, Jack Davenport and Jason Hughes, the programme charted the careers and personal lives of five old college friends who wind up sharing a house together as young lawyers in the 90s.
These shows join other classic box sets already available on BBC iPlayer, including fellow 1990s favourites The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air, One Foot in the Grave, The Thin Blue Line, Absolutely Fabulous and The Vicar of Dibley.
