Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem are heading to Amazon Prime Video this Christmas and a new trailer gives us a proper look at them in Being the Ricardos.
Being the Ricardos follows real life stars Lucille Ball (Nicole Kidman) and Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem), who played America’s favourite TV and real life couple on I Love Lucy. A revealing glimpse of Ball and Arnaz’s complex, romantic and professional relationship, the film takes audiences into the writers’ room, onto the soundstage and behind closed doors during the critical production week of their groundbreaking sitcom – when rumours begin to fly about Lucille’s loyalty to the USA and Desi is accused of an affair, will the couple survive?

You know Lucy and Ricky. Now it’s time to meet Lucille and Desi in Being the Ricardos, Aaron Sorkin’s new film for Amazon Studios.
Written and directed by Sorkin, the film stars Nicole Kidman, Javier Bardem, Jake Lacy, JK Simmons, Nina Arianda, Tony Hale and Alia Shawkat. It takes into the writers’ room, onto the soundstage and behind closed doors with Lucille Ball (Nicole Kidman) and Desi Arnaz (Javier Bardem) during one critical production week of their groundbreaking sitcom “I Love Lucy”. As the couple are threatened by shocking personal accusations, a political smear and cultural taboos, the film gives us a revealing glimpse of the couple’s complex romantic and professional relationship.
You can see them in action on 10th December in select cinemas, before the film streams on Amazon Prime Video worldwide on 21st December. Here’s the trailer:
Filming begins on Amazon’s Being the Ricardos

Production is now underway on Amazon Studios’ star-studded biopic, Being the Ricardos.
Written and directed by Aaron Sorkin, the film stars Nicole Kidman and Javier Bardem as Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz, the real-life couple behind 1950s sitcom I Love Lucy
The film is set during one production week of I Love Lucy—Monday table read through Friday audience filming – when Lucy and Desi face a crisis that could end their careers and another that could end their marriage.
The ensemble also includes JK Simmons (Whiplash) and Nina Arianda (Stan & Ollie) as Lucy and Desi’s I Love Lucy co-stars William Frawley and Vivian Vance – who played the Ricardos’ neighbor Fred Mertz his wife, Ethel, in the iconic TV show.
Also joining the ensemble are Tony Hale (Arrested Development) as I Love Lucy executive producer and head writer Jess Oppenheimer, Alia Shawkat (Search Party) and Jake Lacy (Fosse/Verdon) as the show’s longtime writing partners, Madelyn Pugh & Bob Carroll Jr, plus Clark Gregg (Agents of SHIELD), Nelson Franklin (Veep), John Rubinstein (Family), Linda Lavin (Alice, The Good Wife), Robert Pine (CHiPs) and Christopher Denham (Billions).
Sorkin’s third film as director following Molly’s Game and The Trial of the Chicago 7, the film is produced by Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch, with exec-producers including Jenna Block, David Bloomfield of Escape Artists, Stuart Besser, Lucie Arnaz, Desi Arnaz Jr and Lauren Lohman.
Principal photography began this week in Los Angeles.
