A U2 biopic series is reportedly in the works at Netflix.
The Irish rock band, which is famously fronted by lead singer Bono, was formed back in 1976. The other members include the Edge on guitar, Adam Clayton on bass and Larry Mullen Jr on drums. The band has released 14 albums over the years, including one that was notoriously released directly onto iPhones automatically in a deal with Apple, and has taken home more than 20 Grammys in the process.
The band is no stranger to the screen, with the group providing the main theme for Gangs of New York and the Edge writing the theme song for GoldenEye. Now, it’s taking centre-stage in a new biopic, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The series will be produced by JJ Abrams and his production company Bad Robot, as well as Warner Bros, where Bad Robot has a deal. Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody) is attached to pen the series.
Netflix and Bad Robot have not officially commented.
