Richard Armitage and Charlie Murphy are hooking up with Netflix for a new erotic thriller.
The genre, which had its heyday back in the 1980s and 1990s, has seen something of a resurgence in recent years, from Amazon’s recent release of Deep Water and The Voyeurs to Netflix’s Deadly Illusions and 365 Days. Now, Netflix is investing once again in the genre, with The Hobbit’s Richard Armitage and Peaky Blinders’ Charlie Murphy to feature in a three-part series called Damage.
From Gaumount and Moonage Picture, the tale of obsession and desire co-stars Indira Varma, Rish Shah and Pippa Bennett-Warner. It is based on Josephine Hart’s novella and follows a love triangle that emerges when the enigmatic Anna Barton (Murphy) begins an affair with her fiancé’s father, William (Armitage).
Morgan Lloyd-Malcolm and Benji Walters are penning the script, with Glenn Leyburn and Lisa Barros D’Sa at the helm.
